  • joey and a few other points!!

Been reading this message board for a while now and id just like to make a few points:

the first one being is about our marvelous captain Joey Barton. I been trying to give him a chance to justify all of the hype (mostly built up by himself) but the bloke is absolutly dog ****. What he done for carricks goal isnt a one off..it happens 2 or 3 times a game its just that united punished us. We now have at our club a situation where Joey barton knows he will be in the team week in week out he was made captain before he even kicked a ball for the club, Iv tried given him the benfit of the doubt but hes had 2/3 half decent games since hes been here.. Against stoke it was his fault for the first goal and then should have given away 2 pens. For 80 grand or whatever hes on a week he just aint good enough. FACT. He needs to get off twitter and start actaully playing for the club that pay his wages.

My second point is about Taarabt. Im only 24 but the guy is the most skillfull player iv ever seen in a hoops shirt. He has a couple of bad games and hes out the team. Yes he is frustrating, but the fact of the matter is hes our most dangerous player and we've dropped him to accomidate SWP and bothroyd if warnock or any other person thinks there better than adel then they need their head testing. He needs to start against sunderland he needs to be the main man again, he was the one who got us up last year not SWP or barton and certanly not bothroyd.

Warnock needs to stop living in his little bubble off thinking that we are just happy to play these teams...if thats the case then theres no point being in the league. I dont expect us to go to anfield or play united and win but what i do expect is to be hard to beat and have a go eg: chelsea and city, we show teams too much respect and warnocks tactics are seriously getting found out. Im not trying to be a doom merchant but i just think we are a slippery slope at the moment and its all well and good saying its liverpoool and united but the facts speak for themselves...1 home win and that was against 9 men!!! Its clear we need to spend in january and i hope we get someone in to help faulin cos he has been carrying us in the middle of the park all season. We need a centre half with anton and proven golascorer (who are hard to come by). These players need to be done asap and not left to deadline day or it could be too late.

Wednesday night is massive. I know its only 16 games in but i feel its a must win. We need to get Taarabt back in the side put him in the hole, get the atmosphere rocking and get uin sunderlands faces. Barton and SWP have to warrant the wages they are earning and lets hope for 3 points.

You make some good points, except for Taarabt. Not realy just to do with his form. We can tell you're a Taarabt fan, just by the user name.

Anyway, he made a decent impact yesterday, so hopefully he'll get another chance and keep up that good work. I cannot stand him as a person, but as a player, he's always had potential to be one of the best. Maybe the time on the bench has made him realise he can acchieve this with some hard work and desire.

We live in hope. Something needs to happen for us, as neither Joey nor Ali seem to like getting forward to help the strikers.

Also, stating 'FACT' when indeed you mean 'OPINION' is always a poor way to get things accross. Joey has been poor the last two games, but I still feel for SWP. He even tried to get some time on the right yesterday as he knows his best position. Hopefully we'll get a left-sided player in Jan to allow SWP his chance on the right. I really like Mackie and think he's done brilliantly since his return, but he really isn't good enough to be starting week in, week out at this level.

OP makes some good points but expresses them too violently. I agree Tabs needs to play and have said so all along but equally you have to understand how terrible his attitude has been off the pitch which is why Warno has not been picking him. As for Barton he has been poor but that doesn't make him a bad player, as his record shows. The real test for Warnock now is how he combines the different talents he has at his disposal in the same team. It ain't easy, but that's why he is paid a lot of money. Time he showed who is in charge.

Yeah im a big taarabt fan, I think for all the faults he has, hes a class act and needs to be given the platform to perform. Fans are too quick to get on his back when without him we were in my eyes a playoff team at best last season, and we have written him of as a player without giving him a chance. I think luke young has been a superb signing as has ferdinand...especially as we didnt have much time to get them in. I think traore is a bit suspect at left back but for the money we spent on him i think he has alot of potential. But the 2 players (Barton and SWP) i expected to perform week in week out and step up to the plate have been missing in far too many games.

The problem with SWP even when he does play on the wing is he always checks back...hes good at tracking back and defensively but he needs to offer more going forward. I will give him the benefit of the doubt because as you say hes not in his preffered position but hes been too lightweight so far and is giving the ball away far too easily.

I wont even bother with bothroyd, his lack of effort and ability is shocking!!!!!

Very true. I'll always give Neil my backing, but he's also got to take responsibility for the form of the players. He gets to see them in training, and should experiment there, not on the pitch for the games. It's clear SWP needs moving to the right to improve form. Taartabt can play left, and can do a job there. Alternatively, Hill has played well enough at LB this season to get a spot to allow Traore to play left-mid. We can see what needs doing, but Neil is too stubborn to admit this.

Again, I will still back Neil, but questions have to be asked.

Not many have completely written Taarabt off as a player. Just lost patience with his attitude, and rightly so. Same with Barton. I know what he's capable of, but he's not doing it, and he's not leading by example. Unacceptable by his standards. We all know what both players can do, and we need both to do this if we're gonna stay up.

Neil needs to change things about as well. It's clearly not working.

SWP needs to be on the right -- can't judge him until he has a proper chance at that.
The performance against Newcastle which blew many of us away included SWP on the right and AT in a free role behind the striker -- and they worked really well together that night -- probably one of our top performances this season.
I just think we should have stuck with something which clearly had potential to do teams damage, rather than shoving SWP to one side to accommodate the delightful, and committed, yet headless chicken that is Mackie.

And I still worry that we are just a temporary stop for Joey Barton while he cleans up his reputation enough for a 'better' club to want him -- I still feel his heart isn't in it with us and being made captain immediately without earning it always made me wonder who called the shots on that one.
Faurlin is my hero!!! Love him!!! #########

I agree with a lot of what you have said.

I too have been disappointed with Barton and SWP. I feel both are playing within themselves at the moment. Whether its a confidence thing now that we are struggling a bit I don't know.

I have to say though that the midfielders are really up against it when you look at our forwards. I know HH has scored some goals, but lets be honest he is crap and as for Bothroyd, he doesn't ever look like scoring, he seems to be a frustrated wide man, time and time again he is crossing balls in that he himself should be on the end of in the box.
He seems to have a knack of aimlessly striking the ball over the bar, technique is very poor.

We desperately need 2 forwards, a decent striker who holds the ball up and links the play and a fox in the box. I just hope we can get Defoe as he would get 15 plus goals for us.

6 goals. If only all strikers could be that crap for us...

SWP needs to be on the right, Campbell behind helguson and Taarabt on the left. I'm telling you; if it's like this we will get about 3 goals a match for sure.
Also who cares what Tarbs is like off the pitch? Football is about ON the pitch and ON the pitch is where we need him most, as he is talented, creates chances and is not afraid to go at the other team. I really don't care what he's like off the field. Also I reckon he has been trying out to sort his attitude, i mean when he came on yesterday he was playing simple passes and I think i actually saw him go for a header.

It makes him a bad player for us though. It seemed pretty obvious at the time he didn't really want to come here and we are seeing that translate to his perfomraces now.

I would rather see more of Tarbs too, but he has had the captaincy stripped from him to make room for a known trouble maker who hasn''t done a thing for the club. No wonder he wants out. And that is why he isn't playing - the club don't want him injured as we are selling in Jan. Most likely a deal has already been agreed.

Well then surely it is up to the manager to remind him he is being paid 70,000 a week and its about time he started earning it. If Barton is bigger than Warnock then we have an even bigger problem.

given some of his antics and things you read about him id prefer it if AT wasnt even on the bench, i love some of the comments made about JB not wanting to be at QPR anyone remember ATs comments about whether he was staying on at the club while he parading the trophy around the pitch. His complete disregard for anyone apart from himself shows hes not a team player and therefor shouldnt feature in it in my opinion, a attitude and behaviour like that cant be rewarded with time on the pitch (sets an example of being able to do as you please without any consequences). So yesterday he actually let go of the ball and DJ missed a sitter, are you that convinced that another player in place of him is incapable of doing the same? Barring that pass I so little of his so called impact, admittably he didnt have that much time on the pitch. I know this seems like a bit of a rant but it irks me that seem to want someone to wear that hoops who has basically taken the living **** out of the clubs and its supporters this season.

I do, because what he does can affect the other players, which does spill 'on the pitch', because the squad won't want to be playing with him.

Take the blikners off, Nik, and look at the bigger picture. Credit where it's due, he did ok yesterday, but let's not forget what else he has done, and how much he disrespected the players, the fans and the manager. Same goes for Barton. Both need to drop the attitude and get on with the job.

Hopefully, they'll both get on with it. We need them to.
