At least he tried. For the 2nd goal Barton made the misplaced pass, however he walked back but Faurlin chased him back. Faurlin showed some sort of effort however Barton looked like he didn't want to be there.

EDIT: Just read this post back and it wasn't worded clearly, what I meant is that Faurlin chased back Carrick but Barton didn't even bother.

Do you know what I would rest him for wed,and Jay and Mackie and bring in Derry, Taarabt and Hill, and move Traore forward, with SWP on the right.

I, like many on this board have been hugely disappointed by MOST of our new signings, bar Young and Ferdinand to be honest!

Traore - bought as a left back, yet can't defend for sh*t! Did you see the way he just gave up when beaten down the line by a Manure player? He just stood there and watched! But, he is excellent going forward, and superb at getting down the line, beating his man, and whipping excellent crosses into the box. He must be played LMF in future in my opinion.

SWP - bought to play RMF, yet never seems to be given a chance to play there now? Unbelievable! A goalscoring midfield player too? Premier league winner? England caps? Once sold for £22M. Early part of the season was discussed as re-gaining his England squad place? What the hell has happened since that promising early season form? When come to think of it...he was actually played RMF then? He must be re-instated at RMF.

Barton - bought to boss the CMF area, skipper the side, lead the troops by example, provide a leadership on the pitch that you expect other players to follow. What has he done in this area of his game? He must be the biggest disappointment of all the new recruits. I actually think his best playing position is RMF, where he played so well last season for the Toon, but we have SWP to play there, so there's the conundrum. I personally think he SHOULD be dropped/benched/whatever, but just to give him the kick up the ar*e he needs, in the same way Taarabt was. His mind is clearly NOT 100% on giving 100% for Queens Park Rangers FC that's for sure!

Bothroyd - bought to score goals and lead the line in our expected 4-2-3-1 formation back in the top flight. Jesus Christ! What has happened to the lad after having such a prolific season with Baa-diff last season? Yes I know it was just the bloody Championship, but 20 goals a season in that league, doesn't equate to 2 in the Prem and 20 shots in chuffing row Z of the bloody stands does it? He seems such a lazy player too, and I'm not the only one on here who thinks that. Is it a confidence thing? He was capped last season by England for Gods sake! That's not that long ago. He, as Barton, must be dropped AGAIN and given a right royal kick up the 'arris and told to put more effort in!

Kenny brought back to replace Cerny, Ferdinand brought back (to play against his old club who thought him not good enough? Proper incentive for him there!) in to replace Gabbidon (WTF was that all about not even making the start of the 2nd half on time? Professional bloody footballer!) Connolly (Thought he did well v/s Manure. Made some excellent interceptions/tackles. Especially that tackle on Shrek! Got the ball cleanly, and a bit of him aswell! 'Av it!) - CH, Hill - LB, SWP - RMF, Derry and Faurlin (also lucky not to be dropped! We have noone good enough in the CMF area to replace him and Barton!) - CMF, Traore - LMF, Helgusson and Mackie - CF.

Simple schoolboy tactics should also be taught to the two playing in CMF that IF one bombs on and attacks, the other SHOULD just sit in, as a holding player just in front of the back four as added protection. How many times have we seen this season with Barton and Faurlin playing CMF when both have gone forward, a quick counter attack leaving our back four woefully short of cover? This is simple stuff, or am I the one being bloody simple?

Anyway, rant over...at the end of the day, the majority of the squad need a rollicking, and must do better.

Side I would pick for the Sunderland game is :

              Kenny

              Young
              Ferdinand
              Connolly
              Hill

              SWP
              Derry
              Faurlin
              Traore

              Helgusson
              Mackie

Get the ball wide to SWP and Traore and get some bloody crosses in for HH to attack!

              Come on You R'rs!!!!!!

Rangers do have a habit of making players worse when they sign for us. They can rarely replicate the form when we signed them in the first place!
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

Last year despite our performance our dead ball play was shocking. Adel's corners were bad along with nearly every free kick. One stat going around end of last season was that QPR were the only team in all 4 divisions NOT to score from a free kick! Barton's delivery is very very good both at corners and free kicks, so on that alone I would stick with him.
22nd February away v Charlton is the 40th Anniversary of my support of QPR and my first game. Away v Chelsea 3-3 23rd Feb 1974. 40 years of pure magic!!

Really? I think its been very average, some of his dead balls don't even beat the first man. His free kick at the end of the game yesterday was disgraceful.

If you take him out who takes the corners, free kicks etc? In some games these dead ball situations are the only real chances we get to score.

I guess in your world everyone is consistant

Earlier in the thread, a suggested team features Mackie playing upfront with HH. I disagree with that selection. Not because I don't like Mackie, it's because I think DJ is a better striker, someone who scored 13 EPL goals last season in a team that got relegated.

But you're entitled to your opinion.....
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Currently IMHO our best team would be -

                            Cerny

                            Young Gabbidon Connolly Traore

                            SWP Barton Faurlin Taarabt

Faurlin can do it. In some games the dead ball situations are the only real chances we get to score? I can't remember us taking a decent direct free kick and I think we've only scored from one set piece all season (bothroyd vs city), so obviously we definitley have more chances scoring in open play then we do from set pieces. It's a joke to play Barton just because he can take a free kick/corner.

Barton has proved to be fairly consistent over the years at PL level, although I agree he is not for us at the moment. I suspect come Weds he'll want to put right his mistake for Man U's 2nd goal. On the whole his delivery at corners is very good.

Okay so we drop Barton, but is Derry any better as some on here are suggesting?
