To be fair - everyone bar Cerny has been suspect of late. Who are you going to put in his place? Derry? I think that a poorish Barton is better than Derry to be honest. Imo its Bothroyd and SWP who have the most to answer for. You've got to start asking yourself some serious questions when our resident "headless chicken" looks better than a multi-capped England international..........

Derry has been found wanting in most of the games he has played this year, to drop Barton for Derry would be madness.

I've been underwhelmed by JB a few times this season. He was awful at Liverpool and terrible yesterday.

However up until then I think he has been playing pretty well, especially since moving into the centre alongside Faurlin.

He does need a kick up the backside, but to drop him against Sunderland would be utter madness- if we are to stay up this season, JB will be pivotal.

If Adel had given away half as many balls in crucial positions as Barton did the lynch mob wd have been out in full force. The other prob is I simply don't know who you cd replace him with. We are slightly going round in circles because Derry was also totally woeful in his last few games.
We are in between a rock and a hard place on this one. Derry is not up to it, that is clear. Barton COULD be, but has been sloppy and uncommitted on too many occasions. He has the ability to do much better and more consistently well for us.
For that reason, I'd stick with Barton, but I can't help feeling he needs a bit of a word about giving 100% and also reminding that no-one else wanted him --we are due a bit of payback for giving him a chance to play at all.
Faurlin is my hero!!! Love him!!! #########

for me he has been average at best. but derry is not the man for the job to old to slow. barton should be told to get off twitter and pull his socks up its an honour to capt this great club id do it for nothing. bothroyd and swp need to look at themselves and know they are not doing enough

No. Yesterday was maybe the worst game of his life but I bet he picks his self up and has a solid game on Wednesday

Just imagine the uproar if certain other players made mistakes and it led to the opposition scoring!

I agree Barton has been a massive disappointment. He talks himself up all the time, but sadly isn't producing on the pitch where it counts. Derry might not earn the same money as Barton, but there's not a lot between them at the moment!

The other thing is Barton and Faurlin know they'll play every week as there is no competition in the middle of the park.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

                            Charlie big spuds.

                            Talks a good game.

No point dropping him as Derry imho isn't a better replacement. We are stuck with him so we have to just hope he livens himself up.

id have derry over him any day, i really think derry should be in the starting 11 we always look so much better with him in the team. even if we played a 4-1-4-1 and just let him sit infront of the back four.
