I think it's ludicrous to call for Warnock's sacking after a few poor results, two of which have come against top quality opposition. Give him a chance to strengthen the squad in the January transfer window - it's the least he deserves after what he has done for the club. Yes, some of his substitutions have been questionable, but what you have to remember is that we don't have strength in depth, which means that Neil doesn't have many options available to him from the bench. Briatore and Ecclestone left us in a mess in August and, when Fernandes took over, Warnock had to race against time to secure the signings of Barton, Traore, Young, Ferdinand and SWP. Unlike Norwich and Swansea, it really was a case of a squad scrambled together at the last minute and, in my view, we've done pretty well. The aim this season has got to be survival and, at the moment, we're outside the relegation zone.
Today we came up against a vastly superior side who had clearly done their research. Fergie had identified our playmaker (Faurlin) and it was no surprise that he was prevented from influencing proceedings. That said, our performance was indeed disappointing. I thought that we were far too sloppy in possession and seemed to show too much respect for the United players. Connolly and Gabbidon were totally out of their depth. Barton, SWP and Bothroyd were also awful.
Wednesday night's match is incredibly important and obviously we're going to have to improve our performance. But talk of replacing Warnock at this stage is just silly.
