Whilst I agree with what Joey says his timing is the issue here.

Thing is, he's not wrong. He certainly shouldn't be voicing this, but he's not wrong.

As I said yesterday, it's easy to criticise someone for committing suicide, but you do not know the reasons. Sometimes a persons inner demons can consume them so much, they do not think straight. Of course it's a selfish act because of the damage it leaves behind for their family, however, to criticise a person for this is wrong, especially when you don't know anything about the reasons behind it.

Joey will come in for stick, and rightly so. I'm sure he didn't mean it in a nasty way, but he needs to think before he posts on such sensitive subjects.
        Your mum would love me...

It's nothing to do with being wrong. It's the poor timing after such a high profile name took his life, but I'm sure you know that, Paul.

A lot of your posts are designed to provoke a reaction of late.

            To a word.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Joey Barton actually said "Suicide is a mix of the most tragic, most selfish, most terrible (and I want to believe preventable) acts out there"

The Mail reported it as "Footballer Joey Barton at center of controversy after describing suicide as 'selfish' following hanging of Gary Speed"

They could have gone with JB said it was a tragic suicide, but that would not be a headline, so I have said nothing to provoke a reaction, the Mail has and guess what, they got it.

Can't even be bothered to click on anything that shite rag produces.

Do we know if this is a recent interview? Or was it something done long ago that the paper have conveniently dug up to create more drama at a sensitive time?

No, he's just said what most people think to be fair, and the ****s at the Mail have picked on one word, and deliberately misunderstood what he said.

The idiots on Twitter reacting to it, have 'half a brain' as Joey said, but journalists at the Mail may be a lot of things, stupid isn't one of them.

I feel slightly worried that the general feeling in the comments section is behind Joey on this one and agrees with my thinking, that's never a good sign....

That's no way to talk about Paul Mason's post.

More seriously, I think it was what Joey tweeted in response to the suicide so not the most sensitive timing. Players nowadays have advisers and he should and probably does know that everything he tweets is seized upon. Sometimes people have to take responsibility for their own actions rather than always taking the easy option of blaming the press. The Mail, in its usual fashion, has seized on the sensational bit but why give them the opportunity? His family could probably do without it.

That's not the question you asked, and not the one I answered. Of course the mail would pick up on that. They're hardly gonna sell that s**t with 'Joey thinks it's tragic', because they know what sells stories based on Joey's past character.

My point is that regardless of whether there is reason to his tweet, it's poor timing, and from a professional who shared the same pitch as him on a few ocassions.

Again, I do not disagree with his comments...Just the timing of them when his family are trying to come to terms with it.

Based on what Joey had actually said and what was actually reported, I asked "What did he say that was wrong, to get the twitter luvvies knickers in a twist"

So yes, it was the question I asked and the one you answered, but don't worry about it.

Not a week goes by when he doesn't keep his mouth shut, I'm very bored of it now.

Good player but he has far too much to say for himself.

But equally people are looking for it. They know he says contraversial things, and so will twist it to suit the aim of selling more papers.

You're right, he has an opinion on everything and maybe he needs to shut up, but thats Joey.
