He does seem to think he is some sort of scouse Nietzsch which is starting to grate on my nerves a little bit.

You're right, he has an opinion on everything and maybe he needs to shut up, but thats Joey.
Why does Joey have to shut up ? Why cant people accept he is allowed to have an opinion just like every one else ?

We live in a country of free speech, not a country of who shouts loudest wins............. yet.

The problem is he is giving an opinion on a subject that he simply is qualified to give an opinion in.

You're missing the point. Its like saying why don't we hear Matty Connelly opinion? Different characters, some are outspoken and some are quiet, but if you are the outspoken type, like Joey, people might reply with a different view, so if they don't want to hear that reply, it might be best to stay quiet in the first place.

Wow, WTF are we turning into as according to you, you are not allowed an opinion, if you are not qualified in what you have an opinion on.

What are you doing on here then giving your opinions, as you are not qualified ?

Or, I know this is a strange concept, but how about just accept he is allowed an opinion, or is that now illegal ?

Strange concept? Paul, of course he is allowed an opinion, but is the whole world then supposed to accept it? If people disagree they will reply with a different viewpoint, it's human nature.
What I'm saying is that if he doesn't want to hear those replies, then maybe he shouldn't give his opinion in the first place.
However, I think he loves saying contraversial things, he thrives on the reaction and enjoys a good debate.

He says what he thinks and I think that's fair enough. I wouldn't publicly say it but plenty of people would.. Shame on the mail for cherry picking the headline quote though.

Joey Barton actually said [B]"Suicide is a mix of the most tragic, most selfish, most terrible (and I want to believe preventable) acts out there"

The Mail actually said "Footballer Joey Barton at center of controversy after describing suicide as 'selfish' following hanging of Gary Speed"

The controversy is with what the Daily Mail said, not what Joey said, you can see that cant you ?

The daily mail never said it, joey Barton did! But as with most rags they've sensationalised it! I agree 100% with what joey has said, but as previously stated..there is a time and a place..

Yup, I agree, as I said previously, the press do twist his words to get the headline to sell papers. He knows they do it, they have done it before, and will do it again in the future, and Joey will just keep on tweeting. They need each other.

In this day and age it seems people cant say anything unless they are sure it upsets anyone
I listen to the radio all day at work and i swear if today turns into another Gary Speed love in im chucking the ****ing thing out of the window. Im sure he was nicest bloke ever and probably as good as Jesus if the amount of grief stricken "good friends" coming on the radio and choking back the tears is anything to go by..
He took the cowards way out and left his kids to fend for themselves...unforgivable in my eyes

1/10. Poor effort at an attention seeking comment.

Depression is a disease not many understand, if this was the reason.

attention seeking is all the people on the radio and tv saying they knew him and what a good fella he was.
