  • Would you rather we played our next two games

with our expected line-up at norwich, and then the same team against west brom, in return for a full strength team against man u and liverpool? Or vice-versa, a full strength team against norwich and west brom, and then our saturday's team against man u and liverpool?

Del posed this statement on another thread, and opted for the former. What are your thoughts on this hyperthetical situation?

The better teams v Norwich and West Brom, as they are the games we need to win, whereas beating Man U and Liverpool are bonus points.

Personally, in a ideal world, I'd go with the latter:

With the former situation; we could end up scraping 2 draws vs Norwich and WBA due to our weakened side, and them get nothinig from Man U & Lpool with a full squad (as they are both alot better sides than us!).

My way of thinking is that with the latter, we have a very good chance (IMO anyway) of taking 6 pts from Norwich and WBA with our full strength side out.

Saying this, I can see Del's angle on it; if we could still get the points with the depleted side vs WBA & Norwich then having a full side vs Lpool & Utd means we may well pick up unexpected points from these games.

I dont read my posts back before i send them so this is probably a load of old jibberish :drunk:
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

With you on this because the points we need, the Norwich game is like a six pointer and offers us more breathing space.

I hope HH will be fit to go.

          That is it basically.

Of course i'd rather have a full strength team against Norwich and the Baggies as you would fancy our chances to maybe get at least 4 points, although there's still no guarantees. However, with a few changes, i still think our side COULD have enough to get the same points against them anyway.

With our full team against UTD and Liverpool, we could of course still get 0 points, however, we got no points from Spurs and Man City, but the calibre of the performances (Spurs 1st half aside) has really given us belief and will help us going forward.

Put it this way, if we'd been spanked by Spurs and City 5 / 6-0 do you think we'd have gone away to Stoke and got 3 points.... i doubt it as confidence would've been shot.

My point was to avoid that situation with UTD moreso than Liverpool, ie getting spanked with a weak team which could affect further performances, i'd like to have a full side to put up a fight, and yes, who knows we could nick a point or more..... Not to mention the Chelsea game, would we have got those points with a weak team, no chance.

That said, in this league you can't second guess any result full team or not....

We can't afford to drop points to teams around us often this season.

We bounced back after a big defeat to Fulham, so a spanking at the hands of Liverpool or United would not be the worse thing to happen.

Gotta give it your all against the teams around you as you know they will be doing to the same. I'm not sure our second string would have enough to beat a full strength Norwich at Carrow Road so it has to be latter.

Warnock will have marked off the games where he thinks 3 points are possible, and Utd and Liverpool will be very unlikely to be on this list.

As at Stoke, we have to field the best team possible for every game taking into account injuries and absentees.

Now do you really think that the starting 11 at Stoke was tactical brilliance or pure necessity (given that we couldn't even fill the bench from our 25 man squad)???????
A message to the other Premier League clubs when they visit Loftus Road.....

I dont no what the problem is we can still beat Norwich And WBA with a weakend side, lets face it apart from Barton its not gonna be that depleated.Buzz & Smith will do a job,Helguson & Gabbidon will be fit and i think Bothroyd will be too.

It's only hypothetical, not a mangement choice. The fact is we can't be full strength against Norwich anyway due to Barton's suspension, and i think the replacement for him will be more than capable against Norwich.

As for the injuries, like Webbie said i think most others will play and w'll be near full strength.
