I thought he was fairly solid for us during the 'Briatore/Paladini/circus' era. Remember attending a Carling Cup match against Man Utd and Cerny single-handedly keeping us in the game. I think if you look at his record with us he has kept a lot of clean sheets.

That said, he hasn't played for so long and I'm obviously not disputing that Kenny is a far superior goalkeeper.

Good shot stopper but not much else. The main problem for me is that he doesn't control his area putting defenders under pressure.
Anyway, we haven't got much choice, have we?

I alwyas liked Cerny tbh (barring that goal vs Leicester!). But as you say, hes not young at all, and not having played a competative matcgh for so long will have certainly taken its toll.

Seriously hope this injury isnt Paddy
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Warnock's press conterence was advertised as being live on player at 10.30 this morning. Did anyone watch it and, if so, what did he say about injuries etc?

He couldn't make it. He had to pull out due to injury!

Fitz Hall, Puncheon and Taarabt in the squad. He also said Taarabt trained well and came in on Wednesday when everyone else had a day off.

Helguson (has a big lump), Young and Gabidon have not trained all week but being looked at later.

Any mention of Traore? Said on offish he is a major doubt too.

Could all be over stated to fool Norwich.

I am hoping and praying that Pads is not injured.

However playing Cerny not an option for me.
His last two outings for us showed exactly why I've never rated him -- like a nervous, shivering kitten at a dog-fight.

Even though I've never seen him play, and have no idea of his capabilities, I'd put the young Italian fella, Trani, in the sticks ahead of Cerny.

Been a long time since I've seen a Trani on a Saturday.

Now - back to praying for Paddy and his party.
I need some time in the sunshine, I gotta slow it right down.

I agree. There's no mention on the offish either of any injury to Paddy:

"Rangers, meanwhile, have huge injury concerns of their own heading into the weekend.

Luke Young (knee), Armand Traore (thigh) and Heidar Helguson (eye) are all major doubts, whilst Danny Gabbidon, Jason Puncheon and Jay Bothroyd also face a race against time to be fit.

R's quartet Brian Murphy, Matt Connolly, Kieron Dyer and DJ Campbell are all ruled out."

There was no mention about DJ breaking his foot either.............. (apart from Ric-Roc)

This doesn't make quite as bad reading however:

"QPR manager Neil Warnock insists his team are capable of coping without Joey Barton against Norwich.

Barton will miss Saturday’s game at Carrow Road through suspension, with Shaun Derry expected to be given the nod to replace him when Warnock makes a final decision on his line-up.

Warnock said: “We know it’s going to be difficult without Joey, but you’ve got to expect that [suspensions] at some stage with him.

“It’s an opportunity for someone. It opens the door. We need somone to come in and keep things going for us. We’ve a couple of options we’re looking at.”

Striker Jay Bothroyd has been passed fit to return after missing last weekend’s victory at Stoke because of a hamstring strain, while Heidar Helguson is likely to be available after picking up a facial injury during that game.

Fitz Hall also returns to the squad but Luke Young and Danny Gabbidon have not trained this week and look likely to miss out.

Meanwhile, Matt Connolly has resumed full training after an ankle problem and Kieron Dyer, who has been sidelined since August with a foot injury, is on course to train with the rest of the R’s squad next week."

Neil Warnock says his team can adapt to being without the suspended Joey Barton against Norwich on Saturday.

Gabbidon is to injury prone for my liking... Newcastle have not changes their back four all season... I know it's not anybody's fault getting injured but we need fitter players. Shame as Danny has been good for us.
