I have it on very good authority that we have bagged AJ in the summer.

I'm not sure if anyone else remembers but a few years ago we got very close to landing our man but he opted for Fulham.

I linked the story on 1882 a while back and stuck it up on our facebook page for those that are keen.

Would be a strange decision now. We may still go down, we may stay up. If we stay up and are top half (ok getting a bit ahead myself!) then I imagine we'll be after someone better. If we go down, would he want to come?? Are any decisions made this early?

I'm not keen personally. As you say he's been pretty much oblivious in the last 5 years. I actually think he's very overated becasue he got 20 for Palace in the Prem, but that figure included a ridiculous amount of pens (i think 11) so gave a slightly false expectation and he's failed to deliver since.

We got Barton right though and where the first to confirm he had signed.

With Bellamy we had agreed a deal but as Warnock has since said Liverpool came in at the 11th hour and well now he is a red rather than a hoop.

I'm not sure about AJ to be honest he looked fantastic against us but your right apart from that hat trick is he anything more than an injury prone forwards with his best years behind him?

Of all the strikers we have been linked with he is by far the most likely we will end up with,he is 30,nearly out of contract,won't cost much and and people say is past his best BUT as long as we bring in someone else as well(a younger striker)he would be a decent signing

Defoe is one of those type of strikers we havent had/seen at QPR for a while someone who can pick up the scraps and turn them into goals, I think he'd play great off of either Jay or Heider to be honest with their hold up play.

Dont get me wrong Im not losing touch with where we've come from in such a short space of timeby turning my nose up at AJ, he prooved how good he canbe against us. It's just that, as previous posters have mentioned already, we already have a better AJ (IMHO) in DJ Campbell. Also, he is certainly the wrong side of his peak and isnt exactly known for his good health. IMO, ability aside, I do think if we are to add a striker to our squad (which we need to!) we should be looking for either a more quality/prooven PL player (ie Defoe or Pav) or a younger player with the potential to go on and have a progress massively in the PL (maybe Maynard for arguements sake?).
