  • Anton's on the train...

Was on the way back from stoke on saturday evening with my bro and a few pals, and whilst waiting at the station for the 18:12, someone spotted Anton n said "Anton getting the train home..." After a few moments, who walks onto the station platform?? After signing autographs & taking pics for a couple of fans our train approaches the platform and Anton walks down towards and continues past us...

One of us must of said "well done Anton... good game..." etc. Anton response was like "Cheers... Thanks..."

One of us then said "here Anton come with us..." Anton hesitated for a slight moment and thought - sod it. We walked into the train carriage, followed by Anton, his pal and mentor, and they sat with us for the whole journey back to Euston.

I must say he is a smashing lad. You have to give him respect we its due, he's totally down to earth. Proper interacted with the fans, not just as a footballer, but actually came across as a decent person. I really hope he does well at Rangers. Top Man!

Nice read and I am sure John Terry cropped up in the conversation and as much as I would like to hear what he said I think its better it stays off here

Why did he get the train though instead of the club coach home?

A lot of players make their own way home after games. Our northern players normally stay up for the weekend.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.
