  • R's After Danny Simpson (The People)

Today's people saying Danny simpson is about to turn down a new offer from Newcastle & that Fulham, West Ham & QPR are monitoring the situation.

It states 'former Toon team mate Joey Barton has been singing the 24 year old's praises to Rangers boss Neil Warnock'

I don't know much about him. Is he any good?

He's a RB & Luke Young has made that his own so not sure where he would fit in.

Funnily enough there were strong rumours about him in the summer so suggests Neil likes him but not sure why we need a right back - I mean, if Walker suddenly came available in some real life version of fantasy football then that's an obvious step up but not sure that Simpson is so much better than Young? (Though in fairness I'm no expert on him).

Warnock basically had a list of a few players for each position he wanted to fill back in August when Fernandes took over. Apparently we made a firm offer before the transfer window closed but I think he had family issues at the time (child in hospital) and decided to stay put. Seeing as we signed Young think it unlikely we will have two top right backs as that would put someone's nose out of joint, especially given Young's form.

With all due respect to Young, it's clear to me where Simpson would fit in. It's similar to saying where would Defoe or Bassong would fit in. Danny is the better player. No disrespect to Young, though. It's just how football is.

I'd love Simpson here, good defender, pacey etc but Young has been tops
              Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
              And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

Product of man utd youth system, think he was out for quite a while last season through injury. I suppose we would be stronger having him as competition for Young.

He might well be a bit better than Young but after Tony has forked out hefty wages etc for Young just a couple of months ago I think he would have every right in telling Warnock to make do with Young. We can't replace the entire team every few months.
