Rio even now would be a great purchase but not sure about wisdom of having two brothers in the same team as could cause conflict if gaffer has to drop one or is critical of one. Also I think Anton likes to be his own man and it might put him in the shadow. If Rio does arrive the fixture at stamford bridge will be more exciting than the thrilla in manila.

Some of the comments on this thread have made me wonder if our fans know anything about football.... "ive never rated rio".............stone me. He was the best centre half in the world 3 seasons ago. "hes always relied on pace" he is one of the best footballing centre backs iver ever seen....
Injurys are and issue, on his day hes still a top top defender.

No doubt Ferdinand is a good player but I myself would prefer Bassong as he's only 25 and imo is an unpolished gem.
Also Pete said on Twitter and Facebook AGES ago what about Rio so now Man Utd ITK are saying it. I'm not saying Pete is bang on the money all the time but it's clear he does know some ITK and this is simply 2+2=4 hereUnder Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
And many more mistakes
LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

i've never ever been a fan of Rio...he's a player that will always give the other team a chance....as for best CB in the world? when? and who said that?..no way
BUT
he would be a good signing and is miles better than anyoine we currently have....personally..if our prem status DIDNT depend on it...i'd go Bassong....BUT..

This thread is bordering on comedy.
Some people are effectively saying that as Rio's lost a yard of pace he's now useless.... Well firstly, since when was his game just about pace??? His greatest asset is the ability to read a game and he has 2 yards start in his head on most players. That's why he used to mop up everything in games and often hardly ever needed to make a tackle. Add to that the fact he is a very technically gifted footballer and is so comfortable on the ball in keeping posession, or coming out of defence and starting attackes. He always was, and still is pure class.
Oh, and the fact he isn't a guaranteed starter now for the first time in years, in arguably the 2nd best club side in the world, who are trying to challenge the best side in the world, does not mean he isn't good enough for QPR....
I would take him in a shot, but the only concern would be injuries. If he could stay clear of them, which may well be easier without being needed every mid week for big Champions league games, as he has been for years now, then he would have at least 2 years left in him.
Also some people say they'd prefer Bassong, fine, i thin khe'd also be great and could be argued a better signing as we could get 8 years from him, but at this time i'd never say he's a better player.
And as for Rio being best in the world a few years ago, i can't disagree. At that time him and Vidic were without doubt the best pairing and complimented eachother perfectly.
