On Barton - "QPR fans arent raving about him so far, and for some reason people began to wildly overestimate him once he was linked with us. He's an average Prem player and not a patch on Palacios."
1 i'm raving about him, he didn't start great but I love watching him everyweek now a days and better then Palacios? Please ... Even on a Tottenham forum I read yesterday (When Barton was told he could leave for free and every club in the Prem spoke about him) were saying he's better then Jenas, Palacios etcUnder Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
And many more mistakes
LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

Add to that £10m for Crouch and £4m for Jerome.....
Stoke have done well for a few years sustaining prem football, but they fell into the trap in the summer of being naive and thinking spending lots of money was the be all and end all, hence fans getting elated becasue they'd spent £22m on 3 players, not necessarilly concerned if they were all way past their best and ridiculously overpriced.....
I said at the time I would rather our batch of Barton, Bothroyd and DJ in like for like positions for the £1.25m we paid and keep the other £20.75m in the bank thanks.Last edited by Del; 17-11-2011, 12:28 AM.

To be fair have we been RAVING about Barton?
I haven't tbh. He started ok, had a spell where I thought he was very quiet & wasn't putting his stamp on games & recently he's looking more like the Joey Barton of last season. Can't really knock them for that comment but reading that site many of them are expecting an easy 3 points so that's great. Let's go there & do the business.
Also Palacios? Purleaseeee

In his last year at Portsmouth he got 11, and before that he averaged less than 10 a year at Liverpool.
People get carried away with his England record. Yes it is very good, but most of his goals have been in pointless friendlies or against very weak teams. Many are the equivelent of a prem side playing a league 2 team or in some case worse. Oh, and he's not an Englend player anymore by the way. Can't remember when he was last in a squad, and can't see that changing now he's at Stoke.
So no, i would not have wanted to pay anything significant for Crouch and glad we didn't. Oh and you say who in our squad would get as many, well HH has more goals with 3, Bothroyd has the same with 2. Crouch only has 2 goals in 8 games, which on average is 1 in 4, or 9.5 a season.... so again nowhere near this guaranteed 15 goals a season you and others suggest.Last edited by Del; 17-11-2011, 05:15 PM.
