Also, we even if people think that Dex isn't good enough to be our main striker surely we also need a decent goal-scoring back up when the main striker gets injured/suspended. Based on records so far, Dex fits the bill better than anyone else we have.

he rescued a few games from draws into wins (preston was one i think) and many times was up front on his own and still scored.
he got 14 in what was really just over half a season.Queens Park Rangers Til I Die!

Hows about trying this one for the size, the club has lined up a replacement but they are keeping it under wraps. I mean why would they go around announcing who they are looking to bring in (that is if Blackstock is going to be sold) just to keep a few fans happy.

Sir Les I think you should change your sceen name.
If you rate Blackstock and believe he has qualitys that the rest of us can't see, god only knows what you think of Sir Les who was 1.6 million times better than dexter!I played sunday league football today.
Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.
I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.
We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

i'd love us to buy a proven goalscorer and to keep dex to play alongside or from the bench but as it stands, he is the best we have so why do you want to sell him?

To create funds.
1.6 for a player that I can tell you now would walk and leave on a free the following season is a very good fee. I work at a company where some of the people have been at the company so long they have gone stale. A move is good for both partys. We need to replace but for me he is not the answer and never will be if we are chasing playoffs.I played sunday league football today.

OK this debate could roll and roll. Only time will tell but my feeling is that we wont replace him, he'll score more goals for forest next season than any of our players do for us and will definitely bang one or two in against us over our two matches.

I have said along the same lines over the last few days.
He would be leaving next summer for free, so £1.6M for a 15 goal a season striker is a very good fee.
Apart from all the reasons given why he isn't very good, Blackstock only seems to score in purple patches anyway. He can easily go about 7 or 8 games without scoring before scoring 4 in 4 games.
Anyone remember when Gregory played him as a lone striker and he went about 12 games without a goal, before hitting a purple patch alongside Furlong?
He previously hit a good run of form when Gregory took over from Waddock and scored around 6 goals in 10 games.
I don't know who QPR will replace him with, but I am happy enough to see this sage draw to a close.

If your going to dissect my posts then dissect the whole thing and not be selective.
Dex is good enough to be a main striker....if you want to finish Mid Table but we don't want to finish Mid Table do we!
I think I have summarised how I view Blackstocks game well enough and I'm sure you understood exactly the point I was trying to make and if you have watched him play as much as me then I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.
I honestly believe Blackstock stifles the creativity of the midfield his reading of the game is woeful. His runs are non existant, who ever said he holds the ball up well is having a laugh, no strength, very little pace and he doesn't even win his fair share of headers. He relies on the same ball into the box time and time again, yes he will tuck a few away because he isn't a bad finisher but is not a reason not to sell him.
I would never deny he knows where the goal but this comes at cost in my opinion and that is the natural game of others around him and the fluid movement of the ball in the final third.
You are right Dexter can read the game, be it his own! But not others around him and that is my point. If we sell Blackstock then the whole way we play football next year I believe will changed. I wouldn't be surprised to see us playing without convential wingers at times with the likes of Balanta on the left and Buzsaky on the right. Whilst this approach never worked for Ipswich last year it could work for us.

W12 Ranger, You raise a very good point about Blackstock and the teams' effectiveness.
Another good way of putting this, for those who might recall, is to make a similar comparison with Ian Wright at Arsenal.
He was a great finisher, but Arsenal were far more effective without Wright when Anelka replaced him to play alongside Bergkamp. Both of these players flourished and even others around them, when previously, long balls to Wright when Arsenal's main tactic.
