Only if he's playing up front with a proven goal scorer. Vine is a provider, not a lead striker.

I wouldn't be so sure that JM is 'willing' to let him go.
Dex has been forced out by the fat man in charge. The wounds are too deep from before JM took over and if that egotistic belter hadn't stopped Dex's contract going through after it being agreed, I'm sure we'd have seen the Dex of the early part of the season going into the latter.

Vine is class, that's for sure, but he's not a goal scorer like Dex. None of the strikers we have are. That's why I'm appauled at the way this has gone. It's a joke that we're not pulling out the stops to get someone like Beckford, Nugent, Earnshaw or any other striker with a proven(ish) goal scoring record in the English leagues.

No Cait, that's why he's been our leading scorer (with poor service I'll add) for two out of three seasons.

Agreed, Vine would work well with players like Pat and Heider, as he likes one two's etc, but he also knows where the net is himself.

All this 20 goal a season striker is not going to get us promoted.
Goals from the midfield will be crucial and were lacking last season.
I don't want the team to draw 1-1 at home to barnsley with Blackstock scoring the goal in the 88th min and then doing ****** all in the other 87mins. We need pace and movement upfront so things happen. Blackstock has the turning circle of a small truck and terrible touch but ok he can head a ball..who cares!
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Second season 7 goals big whoop not exactly a goal scorer is it.

Sorry but he just doesn't score enough and like the rest of our strikers misses some god dam easy chances!

Tbh none of our strikers are the answer.

Not in general play he can't! Falls over most of time and lets the player behind him get the ball. He is one of the tallest players on the pitch but can't head for **** during general play.

So you're going to judge him on one bad season?

                    And Dex can't head???

Cait...every day, you just prove to me how very little knowledge you have of football.

He can't in "general play" Up front fine but in general play cannot header. Like Nygaard in the middle of the pitch he cannot header for **** and one of the smallest players on the pitch gets to the ball first. All you hear is moans and groans from the QPR supporters up my end when he doesn't get hte ball on his head!

Nope I'm not judging him on one bad season, I'm judging him in all three and I've never rated him.

You're the first bloke to have said that to me. Other blokes say I have good knowledge of the game. So I'm not listening to you ;D

I think this is very bad news. Although Dex may not be a Premier League standard striker we are going to play teams andhave matches were we will need a target man and an old fashioned hold the ball up, ie a player with strength which apart from Dex we dont have.

Are you saying Ageymang does not have strength

Agree with W12 for those other 2.5 games in which he does not score he is a passenger, he's a good finisher, who does not offer enough outside the box. I'm generally supportive of our players and I was willing to give Dexter the benefit of the doubt especially after Ray Jones death (who no doubt would be our first choice striker by now)

However there was a moment in Routledges home debut which just summed up everything that is wrong with Dexter. Routledge picked up the ball at pace on the half way line and we were suddenly 3 against 2 Dexter ran in a straight line down the middle. Now a decent striker and even SDC would have made diagonal run to take the defender away and open up the space for Routledge, but blackstock ran in a straight line taking his defender with him right into the path of routledge. The chance was lost. At that point with something so basic I realised Blackstock would never be anything more than lower middling championship striker because he just does not have the speed of thought or the speed of legs to be anything more

Fair point but I do think he is useful to have as an option when the bottom half teams want to play the physical long ball game

So how many do you think he will score for Forest?

You know he will put some past QPR!
