  • Chelsea condemn chants about Anton Ferdinand at Genk

Chelsea condemn their fans' chants about QPR defender Anton Ferdinand in Tuesday's 1-1 Champions League draw at Genk but are likely to escape Uefa punishment.

Skumbag fans, skumbag player, surprise surprise AVB didn't hear it. This whole thing is getting out of hand and for some reason AF is getting a huge amount of grief, which is totally unjustified.

Something needs to be done about the abuse he was getting on Twitter too, disgusting.

well what happened to Rangers for their sectarian chanting?
    surely a similar punishment?
Essentially CFC have admitted to this being chanted.

Very good point that mate, sure they had some sort of fine imposed? Financially it wouldn't hurt them but at least it would highlight what a disgrace of a club it is.

In the Standard it says police are prepared to prosecute the racist twit on Twitter who abused Ferdinand - but first they need a complaint from the public. Just passing on the news...

Totally wrong to compare the two, one sang sectarian chants the other sang 'You know what you are', which is a tad naughty but legal.

The initial investigation has come about only as a result of a complaint from the public, so why not.............surely someone was offended by the twit's tweet

why completely different? It makes clear reference to the fact that he has allegedly been called a black ****.

Just as we've been discussing over the past few days about the former arsenal fans making gas noises at WHL in the 80s, 90s...would that be legal? by your judgement all they're doing is immitating a Baxi boiler...

You would have thought a lot of people were. I've always found it weird why people can be so racist on Twitter and its just accepted as normal.

Michael Vaughan, Leon Knight, Stan Collymore and loads others have got some awful stuff posted on their page in the past. Strange world.

As i said it was naughty but legal and no one can be banned or charged for something you think they are singing, when they are not singing it.

Seems nothing will happen to these rats.

                      From The Guardian;

The club is likely to avoid action over their fans' conduct after Uefa confirmed that neither their match delegate nor referee Svein Oddvar Moen made any mention of the chants in their reports.

Were the officials to have alleged the chanting was of a racist nature, UEFA's disciplinary unit would have been forced to look into the matter.

European football's governing body said they could still do so should "any other piece of evidence of such chanting be made available", even though it would appear to be difficult to prove categorically that last night's taunts were racially motivated.

Just google Paul Brennan, and the complaints will appear on several blogs, messageboards twitter walls etc. If this is what they said it's just a lame excuse for not doing anything.
