People on here need to wise up and face the bare facts about our team, having read the various threads since Sunday fans really need a reality check.
We are 12th in the league after 10 games with 12 points. A point per game usually ensures premier league status come the end of the season. Even with no points from our next two games (which most people are predicting) we will still be on course.
At the start of August every single one of us would have taken this position after a quarter of the season.
Adel is a confidence player and last season NW used him to his best ability bowing to his tantrums and behaviour but getting the best out of him. Adel was a big player in a small team and quite rightly shone and got us where we are today. However, the premier league is a different kettle of fish to the championship and to date Adel has not risen to the challenge. Whether this is because NW is not focusing on him as much, or that Adel is not as good as we want him to be at this level yet who knows? All I do know is that we as a team cannot continue to progress if he continues to play the way he did at Spurs.
J Barton, LY, Amand T, SWP and Anton F are much bigger players than Adel and Adel needs to learn that not everything will go his way now. I don’t know if he is playing to specific orders but I do know he is a shadow of what he was last season. Maybe he’s not yet good enough for the PL and we are too inpatient?
IMO NW needs to take a leaf out of Sir Alex’s book and rotate our top players more. We seem to set out each game with the same 4-2-3-1 formation that served us so well last season, but the premier league is a lot different. It clearly does not work for every game. Adel should be used in the free role in games against lesser opposition to the top 4. We are unlikely to repeat the Chelsea result against the likes of Man U and City, so why persist with this formation. The second half at Spurs where we played 4-4-2 proves we can mix it with the best, and believe me Spurs played the best football against us that I have seen this season including the performances of Man City.
Remember Liverpool lost 4-0 at Spurs, so in comparison our result wasn’t too bad. At 2-1 we could quite easily have gone on to make it 2-2 and final result may have panned out differently
When we play 4-4-2 Adel should not start, but when we play against the likes of WBA, etc give him the free role he was so successful in last season.
Akos Buzsaky is not fit and will have an operation very soon so he hasn’t fallen out with NW as some posters would believe.
Faurlin has been our best player by far this season but I now see some on here are slating him. Ray Wilkins comes in for stick from people who don’t rate him or his opinions but to play for England, Man Utd, Chelsea etc you must have something about you. He has done the commentary for Sky on both our last two games and has stated that Faurlin is bar far our best player. He knows when to slow things down, when to keep possession of the ball and when to increase the intensity of play. If only we had two or three more like him? Players like Smith, and Buzsaky fall into this category too.
People are now getting on the back of Derry and even Mackie. These players, although not blessed with an abundance of skill, are vital to our team. Mackie’s persistence in the chasing of lost causes lead to the two or three corners at Spurs that ultimately lead to our goal. A balance of these types of players along with players such as Faurlin and Barton is what we need, so get off their backs.
We are new to this, NW has little experience of the PL,Tony, Amit and Co are new to this too, so as fans we need to get behind our club from top to bottom. We need to stop slating every player each time he makes a mistake. I think only Luke Young, Heidar and Anton are the only three players so far to not be berated on this site.
Get behind the team, it’s a learning curve and we are doing just fine, so get behind QPR or ship out. FFS we have waited 15 or so years for this and we all know that TF will make funds available in January.
Sit back and enjoy the ride, savour every moment as you never know what’s around the corner and be careful what you wish for.
Come on you Superhoopsaaaah!
