  • Warnock, Team Selections and Formations etc

I thought yesterdays first half performance was totally unacceptable and I’m not prepared to listen to excuses about WHL being a difficult result. The second half performance proved that we could have maybe got something out off the game if tactics / formation / team selection was right. The finger off blame for me points at Warnock. As for Taarabt I think I’ve had enough, a truly gifted footballer but his attitude and performances in the past month are not what we need, we are in a relegation fight, we have no room for passengers. AT looked totally out of his depth yesterday in a game he should have been massively up for, the Chelsea penalty and bus stop incidents are a ****ing embarrassment to the club. Warnock playing Barton wide right, selecting Adel when he clearly hasn’t got the fight in him and keeping one up top has me thinking he is out of his depth at this level at times.

Warnock needs to go back to basics with formations and tactics, win the respect of the dressing room and drop Taraabt and start telling it how it is in after match interviews. As for Taarabt I'm starting accept he'll never change having been a massive fan off his and a loudly backed him all the way, the chip on his shoulder looks like being a permenant fixture. I just don't think he has it in him to knuckle down, pull his socks up and become an influential player in the PL for us. The first 25 minutes of the second half proved we can mix it up with the better teams at this level, but it was to little to late after a totally inept perfomance in the first half. Play 4-4-2, 2 wingers with one lump at top and stop ****ing about Warnock otherwise make way for someone who can do the job.

I think opposing Premiership managers quickly worked out our 4-2-3-1 formation after the matches against Newcastle, Wolves and Aston Villa. I agree with W12 Ranger that a change is needed. I would also be tempted to start with Bothroyd and Helguson up front and move Barton into a more central role. Taarabt needs to be dropped - his performances, with the exception of one or two, have been abysmal. Would like to see Buzsaky or Smith replacing him. Mackie, in my view, is more of an impact substitute at Premiership level.

But Warnock was like the cat who got the cream after the match, couldn't have been happier,so can't see him changing anything,he obviously feels he is doing a great job already

110% agree. we was handicapped before we even began. i never got why we played SWP wide left either. as quality as he was i felt if we was to get any success it would be down spurs' left.

but second half we had a team. basic 4-4-2, bothroyd could then implement his game and make an impact which he did.

as for taarabt. his head is elsewhere. as everybody is saying. we have no time for passengers, we cant win any game at this level playing 10men and 1 spoilt kid.

                  I agree, good post.
Half the prem managers have experience a many relegation battles, and they know how to win a point away even when they are inferior. Villa and Newcastle did it to us, and we have to learn to do it to others.
Also, these other managers do their homework properly on the opponents 'danger players' which is why Tarbs is usually man marked, and is clattered and getting kicked about quite a bit. I agree his attitude stinks, and maybe if we sent him out on loan to a champ club for a while he just might get it. That he's just not prem quality yet, needs to work harder.
I've always said 4-4-2 is better for the prem because it's balanced and simple, 4-2-3-1 can be a bit stretched and cause us to play too deep, and we need to keep it more compact.

So finger of blame for poor set up 1st half

By the same persepctive you'll give the manger MASSIVE credit for having the nuts to change it at halftime and give us a platform to turn the game around?

Or does that not fit a typical fans agenda of the "it's the Mangers fault"?

Whatever happens this season I will NEVER lose sight of the fact that our campaign was nearly over before it began due to Tango and Cash.
What NW has dealt with in 18 months and how he has done means he can do no wrong for me - at any other club it would've been bizzare but as we sadly know it's just another chapter in QPR's history of turmoil.

As long as we can drag ourselves towards January anywhere between 10th and 16th I will be happy.

IMO, There is nothing wrong with the formation we are playing (many teams use it or 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 which are variants), the problem is with the way we are playing the formation. The Striker up top has to be allowed to be a striker, playing on the shoulder of the last defender, not used as a holding midfielder to hold the ball up to bring others into play.

QPR FC are hamstrung at the moment because we need to play a certain way to accommodate AT, to bring him into play and allow him freedom to do what he wants / does best and it is not currently working for us. This system/approach is fine in the Championship, but yesterday showed that when you do not have to accommodate AT, we are a much better outfit. One thing for sure is that something is not right at the moment, as yesterday, the players looked happier without AT playing.

could adel be more useful actually coming off the bench for the last 25mins? imagine a team come to LR, or we're away, the opposition have set up their tactics, made 1 or 2 changes already and have us in check (a draw, or one goal up/down)
if we're still in the game, bring Adel ON. he'll mix it right up. when you start with Adel the manager's going "get stuck into him, he'll strop and come off a HT/hound him/presure etc".
Bringing him ON the pitch with 20mins left will just give us a brand new dimention that the manager's going to have to fight across a full flowing game to get tactics across rather than spending the whole week prior preparing for him to be starting.

Don't take Adel off, just don't start him!

Based on 8 of the previous 10 games, can you really see any manager being bothered if AT plays or not ? We all need to accept that for whatever reason, AT is not as effective in the PL as he was in the Championship and move on.

He wasn't effective when he first came to us on loan. he would try all the tricks and we'd get frustrated. remember one time when he gestured to us when he lost the ball for us to shut up. he got a fair bit of stick for that. but he learnt how to score in the championship. everyone talks about PL being this completely different league, where everything is played with flair and skill etc. - it's not. some games you just need to knuckle down. the championship is one of the hardest leagues to get out of. and he dcked on it. he's got talent - and IMO he can succeed in the PL - just needs to find his role.

Give the manager credit for what, doing the obvious?...what your saying is the equivilant of closing the gate after the horse has bolted. T&C are in the past now they are an irrelevance, we are moving forward and the manager needs to shape up.
