  • As I see it

I would class Premiership players roughly as follows-

A- Top bracket including lots of Champions League standard and some World class

B - One level below but better than Prem. average

C Premiership standard ( better than CCC)

    D One step below

    E - Bench

Of our current squad- I would say

PK- on the cusp of C-B

C- JB ( top end), SWP, Tra , A.Fer Al F ( lower end but with potential for B )

D LY ( top end) JB Gab . TS

    E HH ,JM, MC

DJ- not sure maybe C ( lower end)

AT? - who knows? - still very young could be anything from B-E

Our strategy in Jan should be to get as much as possible of the squad into C with if possible a B or two ( Pav, Chamakh? not sure whether latter is only a C- we need at top C centre back)) Once we can get this sort of quality, with further investment we can advance incrementally but the Bs generally won't come until we are an overall C.

interesting way to look at the squad. I am hating all the initials though, it's Monday morning and I don't expect to have to think.

Flippin' 'eck this system aint half hard to read with all the initials

My own personal opinions on it are:

Young deemed as "one step below" PL standard?! Fair enough we all are entitled to our opinions, but cant say I can agree with that at all. IMO he is a very steady PL player. Will have games against top players (ie Bale) where he gets roasted, but against a majority of sides he wil do a very good job at RB... Just wish he could shoot!!

Also, DJ maybe lower end of PL standard? He was the 2nd highest English scorer in the league last year with 13 PL goals... I cant see how thats just scraping PL standard?

Just 1 more comment, IMO CHamakh is pony and wouldnt want him at all. Whereas Pavylchenko on the other hand.... Superb player and would get me rather excited if he came to us
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

I also rate Paddy Higher than you. Yes, he has made a couple of mistakes this season, but I still think he is up there with the best keepers in the division. He is the ONLY keeper we have had for a while that doesn't make me nervous.
