  • Thoughts on today's game (just back!)

Right, a few thoughts after today's game:

    1) The lower tier at White Hart Lane sucks, especially if your away season ticket has you parked in a corner where the view isn't great.

    2) The Spurs fans were terrible. One fan told us how happy they were at goading Joey Barton. But really, they were exceptionally quiet.

    3) The Spurs stewards deserve a round of applause - they didn't kick any of our fans out (that I could see) and let us stand throughout the game. They were even polite after patting down your body before the game!

    4) White Hart Lane's not a bad ground, but if you go to Seven Sisters station, it's a ****ing #### to walk to.

    1) Adel Taarabt is a liability. He seemed slow, he seemed uninterested, and his distribution was exceptionally poor.

    2) Having said that, that could be said of the whole team in the first half.

    3) Second-half wise, we were vastly improved with the arrival of Mackie and the decision to centralise Barton and substitute Taarabt and Derry.

    4) Manchester City-wise, we need to go 4-4-2 with Mackie/Smith and Wright Phillips on the wings. Joey Barton and Faurlin need to play in the middle. Bothroyd and Helguson up front.

Everyone loves mackie because he runs around and tried hard. Same people loved steve palmer. Average at best. Lost faith with adel but give buz a chance neil.

I do agree, and if I was Buz, i would be well peeved. Mackie puts in the effort, but I don't think he is good enough for the prem. Buz showed, especially at Everton, that he is good enough at this level. We need to keep the ball a lot more, and Smith and Buz offer at lot more in that department than Mackie.
Also if Tarbs starts against City, I will be gobsmacked. We can't keep wasting 45 or 60 mins of each game with his poor passing. We need better ball retention otherwise we can't relieve the pressure, and in the first half yesterday, it was constant, but we really did'nt help ourselves.

I would drop Derry, maybe put Adel on the bench for one or two, see if that kicks him up the backside a bit......but Mackie is all huff and puff and little quality - still worth a run out though. Buzz definately needs a go, unless he is not fully fit. Seems to be that NW doesn;t like him though??

I have alot of time for Mackie, top pro that will always give 100% and never whinges. However, I do think he is more of an impact player as he is alot fo energy and work hard, but as you say he lacks abit fo quality and so I think he is best coming off the bench, his attributes will be wasted starting a game IMO.

Whereas BUzz on the othe rhand is a quality footballer and, IMO, deserves a shot. PLayed really well vs Everton earlier in the season and has done nothing wrong, performance wise. Unsure why NW doesnt seem to like him.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
