calling someone a "fukcing black cutn" to me is a racist term. it's the fact that they're putting the two together - as if they're in the same bracket.
You wouldn't call someone a "fukcing cutn, who's also wearing blue socks" if you're not looking to insult that particular part of them.
*IF* JT said it, then he is using both words in a derogatory context.
Forget the context - the context is not an excuse. "Oh, it was a big game, i ha d a lot on my mind" etc is not excuse.
Imagine someone in a rush back from work to see his dying mother on her death bed - runs over a 12 yo boy through careless driving. Think we would take that into context? no, it would be deemed as manslaughter. (massive over-comparisson I know, but just getting point across)
and that mate just about wraps up this pointless thread! well said and well thought out!
LONDON CALLING TO THE ZOMBIES OF DEATH.... ALSO KNOW AS BRENTFORD FANS
It's more about the context that has been used i reckon, it seems that is what they are looking more into. Which is wrong, if he said it then he said it. Guilty.
Queens Park Rangers
NPower Champions 2010/2011
PREMIER LEAGUE 2011 - ETERNITY (Oh well got that wrong, we'll be back though)
It seems to me the only group of people that can't use the race card are White English born. Tell me i'm wrong?
That's cos the white English has for generations been thought of as the master race so it's not insulting to be told you are white it is viewed as a good thing.
Where as to be black over the century's has been used by the white race's to put you down stop you getting a good job a nice home even not being allowed to use the same bus or drinking fountian these things stay with people.
I still remember banana's being thrown at Walters when he played for Rangers by his own fans and a mob at the airport when England came back from Brazil saying the game was a draw cos John Barnes scored and he was black so it did not count.
Why should anybody have to put up with it? I am white and I find it offencive and I am not a pc brigade as some would call it there is just right and wrong.
I think every case has to be looked at individually.
He didn't call him a N*****. That is deeply offensive. However, black is how we describe an ethnic group. So, is it equally as offensive to call someone a fat ****. (Matty - maybe you can comment?) It is an adjective we use every day. However, the context was not good.
It seems to be ok in many groups for black people to call each other by words a white person will be accussed of racism for.
I know it is out of order, but there are degrees of insult, like everything else.
And by the way - this issue should not be clouded by the fact that it is JT and Chelsea. The principles should be divorced from other prejudice.
Seeing as he was taking the **** out of Paddys weight as well then maybe he should be done twice??
Yes I think that it's racist, but suspect that the FA will bottle it when they come to a judgement. However, it's not in dispute that he used the words f......, c..., and d........ I'd settle for him getting the same ban (5 weeks?) that Rooney got for offensive language last year.
I'm mixed race and there never seems to be any middle ground with these arguments. It's not just White people racially abusing people it's Asians and Blacks as well. No one ever points out the fact that a lot of black people use the n word but yet they are not racist? This was a word invented by Whites not Blacks for hundreds of years to bring them down and class them as sub humans. Also Asians are extremely insensitive towards blacks. Is my mates dad a racist if he said he doesn't want his daughter marrying a "black bast*ard" he has got dark skin so is he a racist? Also I have been racially abused before by Blacks and Whites so does that make only the whites racist because they don't have the same skin colour as me? Stan Collymore is quick to jump on this subject but he beat a woman and IMO is just as much of a ****bag as a racist. Finally the worst of the bunch is these wannabe Nazis who do all the sieg hail bull crap when there forefathers fought and died against the Nazi fukers who were trying to kill them.
The word 'black' in itself is not racist, it is descriptive, as racism actually implies discrimination against someone purely because of their race. However in this day and age, to say something like "black c--t" is not acceptable especially with any venom.
As for the use of the word '####', it depends solely in my opinion on HOW it is said. If someone said "The Aussies thrashed the Pakis at cricket" I would not consider that racist. If someone called someone a "f*cking ####", that is racist. And completely unacceptable.
Common sense needs to prevail far more frequently than it actually does.
Stainrod - so judging by your remarks you think exactly the same about making a point about being welsh then?
As you know QPR fans on this board and at the ground abuse the Welsh. I never, ever see them get criticised here. It would be the same if we played Irish or Scottish teams in our league.
Insulting someone because of where they are from is not racism, it's xenophobia - unless that term has become derogatory due to racist use, for example, the term Pak! in the UK. So all this talk of insulting the Welsh and Scots and vice versa has nothing to do with it.
If John Terry did say that to Ferdinand in the "cold" context then that without doubt is racism. Whether that is because John Terry is inherently racist is a different matter. Personally I think he's just a thick, ignorant, overpaid tw&t who thinks he can say and do whatever the **** he likes because he knows he can get away with it - It was just an easy insult at the time IMO.
That said, if found guilty, I hope they throw the book at him and make him a proper example of why you should always consider what you do and say on one of the biggest stages in the world....... That and it would get the blue **** from down the road bawling into their prawn sarnies, and give a little closure to all the folk who have been directly hurt or offended by the crap he has pulled over the years.......... #####.
The Race Relations Act forms the legal foundation of protection from racial discrimination.
Under this law, 'racial discrimination' means treating a person less favourably than others on racial grounds, meaning race, colour, nationality or ethnic or national origins.
So "sheep sh.agger" is no less racist than "black ****".
I think many people, in the heat of the moment, will use whatever word they think will upset the other person the most at that particular time.
Black people were not allowed to get on a bus or vote in southern states in America during many of our life-times. Black people were kept in townships and denied the vote in South Africa until about 15 years ago. I personally don't join in all those Welsh songs (except when its aimd at Reading fans - "you're Welsh, and you know you are" because its quite funny) but the Welsh haven't faced anything like what black people have. You can't compare the two. Think about the history mate. This doesn't come from nowhere. If blacks had been treated as equals all these years none of this would be much of an issue.
