What do you reckon, was the noise the same as against Oldham the same or louder?

Must admit I was steaming at the Oldham game after being on it all day so cannot remember too much of the match apart from Furlong scoring :shy:

I think the main difference was the atmosphere was much more hostile against Chelsea.

i was thinking about that after sunday, really hard to know , cos it was in the evening and the atmosphere normally always better, think sunday may have been more consistent , what both were were momentous moments in terms of what they meant to the club. but what it did show is when we want to we can make some serious noise,
quote in th esun along the lines of "there were only 18050 there but at ft the noise could have been heard at old trafford" everyone picked up on the atmosphere and noise

Louder and more constant..although the noise explosion when furlong scored will still take some beating.

oldham was outstanding - but it was a different feeling. Even walking to the ground on sunday it felt special. every minute in there was tense.
For the Oldham - had to wait pretty long for furlong to get me going mental!

Rangersroar makes the relevant point here - the noise that night against Oldham was loud and pretty constant and of course it was a fantastic atmosphere. Sunday was different, yes it was loud and constant and a great atmosphere the same as Oldham but it was real life hostility that can only be generated througth pure hatred.

Several of us have said we need to make the atmosphere like this for all games and we can certainly make it as loud if all parts of the ground get behind the team but I don't think it will affect other teams as much because it will (understandably) lack the venom that can only be released for those #####s

The atmosphere was as hostile as I've seen for a while, better than any game I can remember in recent years including all the Cardiff games.

For me the biggest factor was that the singing and hostility was pretty much constant throughout the entire game. Managers and players always comment on how close the crowd are to the pitch and what a difference that makes and I think you could really see that on Sunday- it definately riled a few of the Chelseas players.

I'm not going to kid myself and expect an atmosphere like that each week, but it was great to see that we can still do it and we should look to create an atmosphere like that in the London derbies and against the big teams.

its been mentioned before , milllwall can create that hostility for pretty much most people they play, and it defo makes a difference , remember playing them last year at ours and they made the ref bottle that penalty we should have been given. maybe were to nice!!!

I think Joey Barton was even shocked i see him looking around the ground in amazement a few times, seeing as he's used to Man C and Newcastle both who have large attendances i think he finally got what the 'close to the pitch' can mean.

Certainly took Chelsea players by surprise and I bet even Warnock was gobsmacked regards the atmosphere.

Just below Oldham for me, as that was in the final minutes and qblock was actually shaking

The 2nd half of that 5-5 draw with the toons will take some beating for atmosphere. Sunday was a scary atmosphere they didn't know wot hit em.

I know Man City are probably going to stuff us, but I still think it's worth a try at doing the same thing -- fans and players in their faces from the moment the team coach turns up.
I don't think it's on to say that we can't "because it's not Chelsea so we don't hate them as much".
We should be doing it as a strategy to help the team get points, whoever we are playing.

Because this is football, and you never know...

No I don't think that we should abuse Man City players coming off the coach. That would show a lack of class. It's different for that lot and I loved Sundays Youtube clip

In fact, to show our class we should invite City fans into our pubs
We've got a lot in common with them, for instance increased crowds when we were in the third tier. Out of the so called top three ,who would you want to win the league ?

We want massive noise when we play them, but pro QPR not anti them .

I'm not ready to buy into a City love-in just yet. Seen some nasty antics from their fans in the past at Maine Road..... I've managed to follow the Rs at many "hotspots" over the years and come away unscathed but I've been clumped at City 3 bleeding times! I therefore have a deep-rooted antipathy towards them.
