  • NW and Hoof Ball.... Adkins if NW goes?

After watching City and Utd playing in Europe tonight (flicking between the two) and other teams who like to play football recently, I think back to the game on Sat and there was an awful lot of Hoof Ball from us....

This isn't the first time either there were plenty of games last season where we hoofed it up-field aimlessly...

When I think back to the first halves of the Newcastle and Villa games there was some tremendous phases of slick passing but, when things don't seem to go our way we far too quickly revert to booting it up in the air... Long ball and rough house football has always been attached to NW throughout his career and I don't know about anyone else but I am starting to wonder if last Saturday's dismal fare is going to be a regular feature and something we are going to have to become accustomed to.

I am seriously starting to wonder whether NW has it in him to ditch the dross of the hoof ball tactic when the going gets tough and wonder whether someone like Nigel Adkins might be a better long term bet if and when we secure our PL status...

I know there will be lots on here thinking that it is sacrilege even thinking post Warnock but I am also starting to wonder whether he is also making too many PR gaffs and causing internal strife. I remember when Ian Holloway was the joker in the pack. For the majority of his tenure we played sh1te football but all the time it was winning football he got away with it. When the results dried up and the football was still awful his jokes wore far too thin and he was shown the door...I'm wondering whether NW is heading in the same direction?

Lets be realistic if, as feared we don't get many points from the next 5 or 6 games and we are near the bottom then the pressure will be on..

Adkins is unproven at this level granted but, the style of football his teams play get the juices flowing... get Hooper in come Jan and the two would be reunited...

Having said this, NW could make us go on an incredible unbeaten run and or Adkins wouldn't want to leave the Saints who probably have far more potential than we did prior to the arrival of TF....

Add to the mix extra funds and identified transfer targets come Jan and all of the above could be rendered OTT piffle...

I do however return to my original point of the rubbish football that we play under NW which is far too regularly for my liking... it is starting to worry me!

Here's hoping for a miracle this Sun but fear the worst TBH....

Just because you don't agree with his views doesn't make them "shite", he is just voicing his concerns. Nowhere does he say he wants Warnock out. He seems to be looking at it from the owners point of view and what might happen if results go drastically against us.

I can't see this current board sacking managers like Briatore did. They will give Warnock their support, but this is a results driven business, and this is what will define Warnocks future at QPR. If we are doing ok come Janurary, I'm sure his job will be safe, for now.

Wrong, wrong and wrong - some of the football they played, given their limited resources, tiny crowds and total lack of funds and the fact they kept on bouncing back to the championship year after year - and look at the quality he is producing now at Southampton - he is a quality English manager.
I'm not saying I want him here because I am 100% behind Warnock but to slate him for what he did at Scun ny is just plain wrong in my opinion. It's a bit like slating O'Driscoll because he didn't get Donny Rovers into the Prem and finally got found out and sacked!!!!!

You have to remember that with Fitz Hall at the back he will always play it long. Connolly always tries to play it out from the back. Probably learnt from his Arsenal days. The long ball is ineffective in the Prem. Our best football last season started when we played from the back.

Warnock's football lately is becoming very predictable.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

Sometimes you need to change tactics, if the team your playing against squeezes you up the feild, closes you down and dosnt let you pass the ball freely then you change your tactics. If you dont you will keep getting caught on the ball in your half and they will continuly have a free run at your defence. What you rather them have chance after chance like Fulham or play long ball, push them back further into their half, and use this too attack them.

We have to remember, some of our players can pass the ball, but cant do it all the time at the speed required in the prem as they are closed down, and you also can only play the passing game if the players you have allow.

9 points at this stage in the season isnt that bad remember we have only lost 3 in 8.

Adel / Boothroyd find their shooting boots and it can all change quickly, if not i am sure in Jan NW will ahve the funds to carry on doinfwhat he should have been doing in last summer.

Exactly mate, need to be adaptable depending on your opponent; 1 of the reasons the PL is so difficult. I think thats Arsenal's downfall lot of the time, they have this lovely passing football that beats alot of sides but then they cannot adopt a more "solid" approach to a game against the likes of Stoke.

Love the red sentance, great summary and makes us realsie were not in too bad a position, especially taking on board the fact we have money to spend on reinforcements come January.

we are based in london and are now in prem with 5/6 premiership players. adkins is a great manager but we CAN get better. and i'd expect fernandes to want a name for his side. somebody to command respect from barton etc.
Soldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
