Hear hear, there were plenty of tickets left for those two and no-one seemed interested in designing a new loyalty system tailored precisely to their needs back then.

Exactly which is why there is a need for a new system! Everyone wants to do the glamour games and they will sell out so it's only fair the people who go to Wigan, Everton etc get priority over someone who hasn't!

The end of April, we go to Chelsea, demand will be huge. A member could have done 12 or so away games up to that point yet lose out to a home season ticket holder who's been to none, how is that fair?

no chance matty , if a st holder not been to any of the away games and others have the loyalty points starting point will be higher then an st holder will have, go to the boltons newcastle sunderland games will be something like 8-12 points a game , you will soon overtake the home st holder

ok matty not a dig but what games are we taliking about? cos those who go away i will guarantee having no problems getting a lot of away games tickets, thye will then build the loyalty points to get the glamour ones later in season

Not a chance mate, some ST holders started on 140 points, members started on 30! All the London games will be 1 point so that leaves 15 games to get points, throw in small allocations where they can't purchase a ticket and i'd be amazed if a member gets above 80 loyalty points for the season.

most away matches now will be worth 2-3pts so if you havn't got points on the board now you won't be able to make them up

You can see why loyalty points are done this way.
ST holders give money to the club and it is for us.
With Away tickets ok money is given to the club BUT it is passed on to the other club (Home side).
I believe that to be the reason, they are being rewarded for giving more money to the club.

Seems people are asking to be rewarded for away games due to not only the ticket cost though, but how much they shell out on the day (travel etc).
If that is true then should not all R's be rewarded points the further they travel, even for home games, it's laughable, leave it as it is, ok some miss out but it's working fine otherwise.

mattyqpr i agree with everything that you have said.

my opinion is that you shouldnt get any loyalty points for a season ticket and like someone else said the first away game should of gone on general sale first come first served basis. (if you want one enough you would make sure you get down the ticket office whatever it takes). and then go on from there. its totally unfair that you could be a member and do for example the first 5 home and away games and then number 6 away game is chelsea away then you cant get a ticket because a season ticket holder has got 100 more loyalty points than you have and hasn't yet been to an away game all season but gets a ticket to this one as its right on his doorstep. all this s*** about i deserve one as i shed out 500 quid for my season ticket is a load of crap. people who go to away games should have priority over people who just go to home games.

going back to last season i wasnt a season ticket yet went to most games home and away but when it came to getting a cardiff away ticket i struggled to get a ticket as season ticket holders who hadnt been to any away games all season got one first over me. how is that fair?
This isnt just goodbye, this is i cant stand you!

                      Finally

I really can't see the problem with an 'away loyalty system' coming in before the one currently in place, that way ST holders still get fairly high priority but most importantly fans who travel the country get rewarded for the glamour games.

Is that a fact that sesaon ticket holders do not go to away games?

If you went to most away games then you would have surely amassed enough loyalty points for the Cardiff game

Fans who go to more games either home or away or both deserve first dibs on hard to get by tickets and having paid for a season ticket in advance says that these fans are intend to going to at least every home game

I understand where you're coming from, the reason I shell out for my season ticket in one lump sum is due to the fact where I live and paying for each game separately Inc admin fees works out a darn sight more, so I prefer to save something.
It's not ST holders fault that we are prioritised in this way re loyalty, it is the clubs decision so if anyone blame them.
I tend to agree re away game loyalty should be above home game loyalty, but there are those that pay a lot more to travel to home games than they would away so are they being just as loyal travelling from where they live compared to an away game which may be up the road for them (depending on where they live of course)?
Not everyone lives in Shepherds Bush you know.

There are arguments for all sides and this is something that will not be resolved as you can't please all of the people all the time.

Every club in the country has a loyalty scheme of some sort.

You say offer them on general sale - how is this fair? Someone who has not been to a game ever could get a ticket ahead of you!!!

Your argument is flawed you *****...

you say u will attend 14 games, therefore pay more than a season ticket holder - how does the club know this? Why do u deserve a ticket ahead of someone that is prepared to commit for a whole season in advance, when u just pay £40 for your membership and could not go to a home game if u wanted to, but u still DESERVE a ticket ahead of me?!? Grow up u idiot...

I've been a season ticket holder since '98, and yes someone who bought a season ticket this year might get a ticket ahead of me, I get extra points for renewing, but if I don't go to some games that's a chance I take.....

                              U guys make me sick!!!

Actually come to think off it I've 180 loyalty points and only bought Rotherham, Fulham and Spurs tickets because I've a Platinum ST.

The England Fans Club has a pretty decent scheme for loyalty points or Caps as they call them but even this is moaned about

What they do is awatd one cap for any home game you attend and two caps for each away game

The membership is for two years and when the new membership starts ant caps awarded during the previous period are carried over

When away game approaches we have to register in advance with the FA that we would like to attend and then if the away allocation is oversubsribed then the fans with the top 70% caps are awarded a ticket and the remaining go a general ballot for those who missed out

If any are remaining after this then there is a second chance sale where its fiirst come first served

If you have a lot of caps then you are obviously gauaranteed a ticket each time and your position gets even stronger as you would gain another two caps but it does give those on low caps a decent chance of moving up the ladder especialy for the long distance trips or the unattractive fixtures
