  • Memberships, Loyalty points and away tickets

Is there anyone else out there thats pissed off with the way in which away tickets and loyalty points are allocated? Why is it that the chosen few can always get tickets? How do you boost your loyalty points when you can never get an away ticket as a member?

    Scenario -

Buy Membership for £40 and receive 30 loyalty points, have the capability to buy tickets before general sale (Home and away). First and second away games, you're on holiday, third away game, small allocation, so no tickets available for those with less than 100 loyalty points. Fourth & Fifth away games, both 2900 allocation, tickets don't reach those with less than 100 points again. How the f*ck do you get an away ticket unless you are a ST holder?

People want to go to Wolves, want to go to Stoke, Spurs etc but you will never be able to unless you know a ST holder who aint going. This must be looked at.

I have no problem with the same faces going to every game but what about the chance for those that can't get to every home game? Those without a St but who enjoy an away day?

I know you'll say everyone who wants a ticket for Villa park, Sunderland, Blackburn etc away will get one, but some do want to spend their money and go to Spurs, Arsenal etc etc.

    Whats the solution?

    Problem is demand outstrips supply.

It is right that people who are season ticket holders and have paid hundreds of pounds out for their tickets have first chance to buy - their loyalty is being rewarded.

As a member, who has only spent £40 on membership, why do you feel that you have more right to a ticket? There is no fairer way of allocating them.

Simple problem is the club have been too conversative in requesting allocations.

As i've said the loyalty system is flawed! They need to introduce a new system based on away games attended followed by the system currently in place.

It has been said though that some fans buy away tickets and then sell them on, gaining the loyalty points at no cost! This is a problem and there is one way to sort it, although it's going to be a pain in the backside!

I suggest the club releases a statement in the next few weeks asking fans to retain all tickets used for away games this season, then in the summer, the club takes in applications with the said tickets attached. The club can then set a new loyalty system in place which gives fans who GO and not BUY tickets first priority for the 2012-2013 season.

It could go something like this:
      15+ away games
      12+ away games
      9+ away games
      6+ away games

Then onto the current system in place.

I know people will moan about keeping tickets but it's not hard really and i know a lot of people do keep them anyway. It will only be for this season and has to be done for a proper and fair overhaul of the system.

If the above went ahead the new system would be in place for the opening game and the club could simply give 1 point per game for future away games and the points re-set for the start of every season based on attendance of away games in the previous season.

Maybe this system i propose won't work but one thing is for sure, something needs to be done!

And who do you think should go without a ticket (who currently would get one ahead of you), so that you can get one?
        And please give reasons why.

I see you base your argument on what people pay. Even with a membership if I attend say 14 home games this season I will probably have paid more than a season ticket holder. So on your reckoning I should get away tickets ahead of ST holders?

So in your book a ST holder for this season who has never had one before, who has been to LR a dozen or so times in the last ten years is entitled to away tickets more than someone who has followed the Rs home and away for over 35 years?

See your argument does not stand up.

By the way 'I do not feel that I have more right to a ticket than anyone else' just mearly asking the question, after all we are all QPR fans and no-one is better than anyone else. Just because someone has a ST this season doesn't or shouldn't give them an edge on someone else.

The fair way to deal with away tickets is to offer them on general sale and if away ST's are offered ANY fan should be able to sign up.

Its disappointing that the wider fans base miss out

thing with ST is that points do not role over season over season.
              Take this scenario:
Man supports rangers for 20 years. Every home game, ST each year. Doesn't travel away as has family.
New lad turns 18, fancies going to support the rangers. New fans always welcome. Buys ST for 2 years.
Now - both have ST, one for 20 years, one for 2. Old man fancies suddenly, after 20years of being a fan, to go to Old Trafford - why not? But Young man is ahead as he bought tickets for Blackpool away the week before.

I find that madness. If some man's been going to QPR for 20years - surely he deserves first dibs?

Sorry, but your argument does not stack up.

Every club in the country has a loyalty scheme of some sort.

You say offer them on general sale - how is this fair? Someone who has not been to a game ever could get a ticket ahead of you!!!

Your argument is flawed you *****...

you say u will attend 14 games, therefore pay more than a season ticket holder - how does the club know this? Why do u deserve a ticket ahead of someone that is prepared to commit for a whole season in advance, when u just pay £40 for your membership and could not go to a home game if u wanted to, but u still DESERVE a ticket ahead of me?!? Grow up u idiot...

I've been a season ticket holder since '98, and yes someone who bought a season ticket this year might get a ticket ahead of me, I get extra points for renewing, but if I don't go to some games that's a chance I take.....

                U guys make me sick!!!

Why is it that when you start a reasonable thread with a topic that might be a little contraversal for some, some posters on here can only answer with insults and personal attacks?

the way i look at it if your prepared to go to the non big game away you should have first dibs on the big away games, how is it fai that someone who has gone to the non glamourous games cos there is no que for them then is expected to chance his arm for the big games?
the end of the day you have to have a system that allows those that folllow a team away for not just the glamour games first dibs end of. and i will come back to the fact that people will moan about not going to the glamour away games yet there were tickets available for home games vs bolton newcastle and last time i checked for this weekend vs blacburn, so to the original poster did you go to any of the above games?

Slightly disproportionate reaction to a Hoop who's just frustrated because he wants to go and cheer the team on chap.

I understand the frustration - my Dad is only a member because he works weekends so a season ticket wouldn't be great value but it means only one of us gets to go to away games. Annoying, but i can't think of a fairer way
A blog of my first season ticket, and QPR's return to the Premiership after 15 years

I've been to two home games so far this season, will be at Blackburn and Spurs away. I would have gone to Wolves and want to go to Stoke.

There needs to be a system where supporters who can't use a ST have as much chance of purchasing an away ticket as anyone else. Award loyalty points for home and away game attendance and not for buying a ST.Most PL clubs do this, so supporters who go to more games have a higher chance of ticket success not just because they have a ST. There are many ST holders who don't go to all the home games, just the glamour ones as you say, but want to guarantee their seat. Award loyalty points for buying a ST but these points would not count for ticket purchases, they could go towards The Player of Year Dinner, training ground open-days, away day coach travel etc etc. ST holders, when attending games, would then be awarded match day points like everyone else. This means every supporter would be on an equal standing going into the season.

The current system does not allow for members to ever get more than 130 points, so they are never going to get away tickets and therefore increase their loyalty points. As the season progresses the chances reduce even further than they are now. Okay members will be able to go to Villa Park and Blackburn on a cold midweek night but thats not for everyone.

Realistically how many ST holders go to away games? Going on last seasons away attendances by QPR fans not many. But of course now we are PL everyone wants to go. Having visited the likes of Middlesbrough, Swansea, Barnsley, Derby, Cardiff, Doncaster, Portsmouth, Norwich etc etc last year my loyalty is not rewarded.

see what your saying but you can buy an away st , i didnt buy an away onw as im not guarateed to be here for a lot of them as travel a lot with work, but i go to most of the games that i can, i would be thoroughly pissed of after going to wolves and buying my ticket to stoke (wasnt at everton or wigan as was in states with work) that i couldnt get a ticket for spurs or the like. their is no other way of doing it, will give you an example , know a few people as im sure we all do , never come to games , last season vs leeds all moaned about not getting a ticket , has bought a bundle this year where e got the chelshit game etc now thinks hes entitled to a ticket cos he was a st holder 15 years ago ,
what i would agree with you on is that i would have liked loyalty last year to have been rewarded this year with some points to carry over cos the people most affected buyu this are all the people who didnt need to buy an st as they always got a ticket game by game, there are probably a lot of fans like that who went to near enough every game home and away and these are the people who deserve recognition , i dont have any sympathy for the fans who will only attend the big games this year
