  • The point people are missing (ST Refund)

Look, i am very happy TF and co are giving something back.

a £25-50 voucher that can only be spent at the club is a great gesture. HOWEVER. thats not my harp.

the reason we are getting a 'refund' is because TF and Amit lowered the price on matchday tickets. making the ST's less valuable and cost saving.

if we was able to get cash back then i wouldn't be as bothered.. but end of the day there is no refund. we dont get any money back we just get the choice to swap part of our season ticket for another ticket or a scarf.

I hate to moan and rarely do but this is abit of a pisstake for me. people with kids and money troubles could do with the money..

bleh i feel wrong for moaning but needed to be said. TF n AB are doing this because they lowered matchday prices its what they HAD TO DO.

    *don's tin hat*
Soldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
    Lovejoy: "No?!"
Soldier: "GOD DAMNIT THAT GUYS GOOD!"

Thats a good point mate that many, me included, have forgotten/missed.
Does now sort of seem the ST hodlers are being abit harder done by than the members, which is obviously wrong as commiting to a club by buying an ST should mean your are treated with priority.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

They can't give cash back due to VAT and Tax obligations. Season ticket is a stand alone product and priced seperately to individual match tickets. One doesn't have to correlate to the other.

TF didn't HAVE to do this. He accepted we'd been shafted and wanted to make a gesture to show this.

That is true, but the gesture to people who buy tickets on a match by match basis, was better.

If you go to away games I guess it's an ok deal because it can be put towards tickets, otherwise just being able to use it in the club shop is a bit limiting to say the least. What you could do is, as a season ticket holder, is buy tickets for any friends who may fancy coming to a home game when tickets are limited and get the cash from them.

Yes - they need to rein in the Tweets and think about what would be appropriate. Can understand the initial rush in the excitement of buying the club and generating the goodwill.

                    not sure thats true.

i remember getting cash back from a season ticket a few years ago, 2009/10 season i think, (got a voucher which could be exhanged for cash at Box Office or use in the Club shop)

Yes VAT implications apply. But we are not talking about Poundland here. This is a big business and i am sure they hire people in suits to balance the books. It would take work a fair bit of work yes but it is not a reason to not give a cash refund. It is not that big a deal if done properly.

QPR would actually benefit VAT wise from giving a cash refund back to people because they can claim back VAT ( on the value of the cash refund ) they have already had to pay over when fans bought a season ticket at the point of sale.

Hard work yes. But can be done.

I didn't want or expect more financially. £50 for me and something similar or less for my Son (not sure until I get home and read letter) is perfectly acceptable and a GREAT gesture.

But, why are we punished for parting with big bucks up front ?
Why should Silver S/T holders get the chance of a cash refund albeit by this weekend, but Gold S/T holders don't. When you've paid 4 times the amount, you get twice the credit, not cash refund.

Not sure about Platinum or Student/young Adult refunds/vouchers.

And if you got an Away S/T also, it means you lose the option of spending on Away tickets, so it's the Club Shop or nothing.

Is there an option to donate to QPR in the Community for all grades/levels (again, I don't know until I read my letter)

And wouldn't an option of keeping a credit or voucher on my online account have been an easy option to benefit both Club & Supporter, even if it was used to reduce Next Season;s S/T ?

Yes, it can be done, but it isn't a simple program or calculation. Extrapolate that over 9,000 times at eight different price bands multiplied by adult, junior, OAP, etc etc, through a variety of original payment methods (credit card, debit card, personal cheque, cash in person - monthly installments - loans from Zebra Finance bearing interest)? Then the administration processes of getting it physically back to the fans within reasonable timescales? Not going to happen.

Personally would have just announced a credit/discount on next years ST, with a set percentage across the board.

                            Advantages :

Very clear and easy to understand.
                            Very simple to administer.
Would be seen as fair, if you had paid £500 or £1000, with nobody complaining that their personal situation meant they were being disadvantaged.
Makes a ST next year more appealing to those who may otherwise choose not to renew.
Could have been announced straight away.
                            No VAT or tax implications.

                            Disadvantages :

"The club get to keep OUR money for an extra year" posts cropping up from those that simply have to moan about something.

WeAre wouldn't benefit as he didn't buy a ST this season, although he did get to take advantage of a "FREE membership.

Disadvantage to the club is that they lose up to 25% of season ticket revenue for 2012/2013 in one foul swoop.
