  • Mackail-Smith, The one that got away.

Watching the scotland game, and this geezer is getting better each time I see him. Lone striker up against top defenders like Puyol and causing problems.

I often wonder whether if TF was in charge when we were talking to him if he would have come to us? Would suit our system to perfection. Remember the Barry Fry rant about T & C on talksport?

Good player who slipped thru our net imo.

All the clever ones on here (people who post the most) said he would not be good enough for QPR FC and I bet the same people were knocking one out when we got Bothroyd on a freebie.

Would rather Boothroyd over him in terms of player to watch --- do agree he has a fantastic work ethic.

But a certain Mister James Mackie also has that in bundles and jumped at the chance to join the club.

So not needed in my opinion - I'd even select a fully firing HH ahead of him TBH.

I do hope CMS and the rest of the kilt worriers enjoy watching next years tournament from the comfort of their s####y pads. They can text their friends the taffs and laugh at Englands bunch of overpaid to$$ers whilst we struggle through the group stages.
Good luck to whoever the irish draw in the play offs.

For all our downfalls and abuse/not-so-lighthearted-banter we get for our squad of underachieving prima donnas: yet again we are the only UK side to qualify for a major tournament..... Unlucky Jocks Taffs & those people in the North of Ireland

Good player who would of brought energy to our team but if reports are to be believed he turned down a £3m move to us.

Obviously didn't have the confidence to step up to the Premiership. That's if the reports at the time were accurate.

Sorry mate I dot believe that one .
Didnt P/borough manager slagged Warno off for not signing Him after we had promised to sign Him even before last season had finished .
I think it mightv'e been the case He got pissed off waiting for us to sign Him as His then manager said
I think youv,e got to blame the 2 tnuc's that were in charge previous to TC

I've thought that for ages. Good call :drunk:
                  Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                  And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

Reading between the lines I think a deal was agreed between the clubs, that is until the phone call Neil made to Barry saying, 'sorry mate, Bernie won't give me any money,' so he joined Brighton on the rebound, and Barry slagged off our owners on talksport, calling them a disgrace, and was in disbelief at the way they were treating Neil.

                    found the link:- http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-ne...s-are-disgrace

I think if TF had took control 6 weeks earlier we would have CMS, and also that Jay Bothroyd wouldn't be here.....

Cant say I agree mate. A few weeks back Neil said he thinks, on his day, Bothroyd is as good as Andy Caroll. Jay was also quoted as saying Neil was in touch fromthe day we got promotion trying to persuade him to choose us over Everton.

Matty, have you listened to the interview on the link? At about 2.50 in and 5.50 as well, It stands out a mile that he was going to sign for us. Also, Neil is well know for bigging up his own players, does it with all of them to boost their confidence. JB came to QPR because he was on a free.

You'll see when 'Arry turns down the England job and Neil gets it instead, bet you Bothroyds name won't be on the team sheet, nor will SWP or Barton.

He has one good game on the telly and people rave about him, he ain't that good. Bothroyd may not be a very good finisher but his touch is so much better and also is very skilful, who seen his roulette against Villa? CMS or Campbell are more like for like though so who would you rather have? Its DJ Campbell all day for me.

DJ and CMS for me. HMS Bothroyd might have a touch and can hold the ball up, but is also slow, lazy and would not hit water if he fell out of a boat. He has scored no goals in 8 games (no assists either) which are truly shocking stats for a striker.

Its not just one good performance on TV either, CMS has payed very well for Brighton and scored 6 goals (+2 assists) in 12 games, which are top stats for a striker.
