I used to walk past with my old man but as he was not one of us I never even knew we played there until a long time after it got knock down. Looked a shite hole. Should we not be going for more than 108:000 cap?

Also would need to build on the fact that the 46 Olympics were held there...

              The Original Olympic Stadium?

Would love a move to a spanking new stadium - with such a heritage already built into it
There were no olympics in 46. London had the olympics in 48, but at Wembley. Olympics were in White City in 08.

Loads on Report's site. Check out Bushman's "History" thread. Highly recommended.

Did anyone else go to watch the Rebels speedway team. I use to go when they restarted in the mid 70's and they won the title in the 2nd or third season but shut down because they couldnt make enough money, some great nights with the bikes roaring round under the floodlights and Gordon Kennet who was the star rider of the day
its New Era number 8 i tell thee, bring on the fireworks

Yep, I found the whole speedway thing amazing when I was a kid, especially the sound of the bikes and the smell.

wow, thats brought back some memories. Just noticed a pic of keeper Rodney Slack in that thread. When I was about 11 yrs old, I used to go to Cambridge Utd games as I lived just down the road, it was about 4 or 5 years before I became an R.
