So Fernandez has made a few signings...he had to!!! what else was he going to do after buying the club? It isn't like a Northern club building a new stadium on a plot of out of town wasteland....we are talking about prime West London Real Estate here.

Lets get one thing straight, I like Fernandez I couldn't give a toss about a new stadium as long as he supports the manager and keep us in the PL but fans really need to be able to differentiate between the scale and magnitude of the 2 projects. Both in terms of finance and time off which 99% of posters continually seem to over look.

I sense that the writer is upset that Tony Fernandes did not takover West Ham.

You can go into schools next to the Emirates and see kids in Chelsea, Spurs, Man U and Barca shirts. Football has moved on. It's a global, not parochial audience.

My sense is that this could be a lucky escape for West Ham fans. It seems like a terrible venue for football. But we all get a taxpayer-funded white elephant athletics stadium that will presumably stand empty for much of its life.

I thought Spurs's involvement in the stadium was purely to put pressure on Harringay council to help them fund a redevelopment programme?

They wouldn't REALLY move to Stratford.... Would they?

                            Nodge?

                              No.

                              This decision naffs everyone over.

West Ham forced into a rental agreement with no assets left to their name (no naming rights, no "non football" income).
Spurs potentially lose any public assistance in regenerating N17 and N15
                              Orient still stuffed
Public purse paying out an £50m on a white elephant.

OPLC are an utter disgrace. Paid too much attention to Seb Coe's "demands", that weren't based on any sound commercial practicality but the airy notion that, a minority participation sport with a minor tv audience outside the Olympics, is deserving of an 80,000 legacy stadium built on public subsidy. An absolute farce from top to bottom.

And of course as Nodge says wet spam stroll in as tenants, Spuds loose their circa £17M funding, Orient get dumped on - and there is no legal basis for anyone to appeal the decision.
Had this proceeded as it was, with spammers buying the place, the legal appeals process would have lasted for years whereas this way it's all done and dusted and the tax payer is left with the white elephant...............mind you, just how much will the rent be for the spammers
