When the goings bad (and it doesnt get much worse than a 6-0 pummeling at Foolham!), people are quick to slate players. When its good, were on course for Champions League football and Barcelona should be quaking in there boots.

As you say, after a 3-0 vs Blackburn and Barton puts in a master class in midfield everybody will be saying what a superb fre signing he was.

This is absolutely true. After our 3-0 victory over Wolves, there were a number of threads praising Barton's gesture towards the Wolves supporters and his comments aimed at Karl Henry, which in hindsight were completely unnecessary. But because we had won the game so convincingly and Barton had played so well, nobody really cared. Of course, the attitude of supporters is totally different after a 6-0 defeat to our local rivals...

That said, I do think W12 Ranger makes some good points. I am also starting to become a little frustrated at Barton's obsession with Newcastle - in fact I think I've heard him discuss the Geordies more than QPR since he signed for us. In my view this is a little disrespectful given the amount of money he is earning. I was also disappointed that he did not apologise for the team's abysmal performance last Sunday - as the Captain, he really should have made a public statement.

At his best, Barton is an excellent player whose influence on the pitch can be ubiquitious, as he showed a few weeks ago against Wolves. However, like W12 Ranger, I wish he would focus 100% on his performances rather than try to appear as some kind of philosopher/intellectual, fields in which he is totally out of his depth.

            Cracking post mate, totally agree.

I ahve always defended Barton when people have slated him on here, but the whole love in he has with the Geordies is really starting to grate on me. As you say, its totally disrespectful. yes he can still like the fans, but keep it to yourself Joey ffs show us Rs fans a bit fo respect eh!

As for your last paragraph: couldnt have put it better myself

lets hope Joey starts letting his football do the talking from now in; starting with a captains performance in a convincing win vs Blackburn !

Mellow he was on the right against Fulham and in the middle against Villa and was poor both games. What is his best position?
