  • Hypothetically speaking...

...How would us fans feel if there was a real opportunity to sign Frank Lampard and/or John Terry...would you be for or against it and why? Its honestly not a loaded question, just genuinely curious...

Call me silly but it all depends if it's a free transfer or not.

I know it's not my money but if they didn't cost a transfer fee then why not, they are good. If they do then you may as well spend that money on a 25 year old (Anton Ferdinand prime example, such a good signing he will be)
    Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
    And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

It would assume that any fee paid (be it transfer, signing on, built into salary etc) would be based on a projection of how many years left at PL level they'd have in them.

One of them might be acceptable, hypothetically. The other would not under any circumstances.

Why would you want to sign a lump-o-lard and wife snatcher?
          Queens Park Rangers
          NPower Champions 2010/2011

PREMIER LEAGUE 2011 - ETERNITY (Oh well got that wrong, we'll be back though)

Because they're bl00dy good footballers maybe?

Although only hypothetically, we cant afford to turn down top quality players just because theyre not the nicest blokes (take Joey Barton for example) or just becaause theyve played for a rival (more towards Lamps as he doesnt really fit into the former, seems a decent bloke tbf). In our position (ie needing to survive in the PL) we need as many top draw players as possible to maximise our chances of staying up, previous clubs aside.

Im sure that if 1 were ever to sign (tbf wont ever happen but just replying to the post lol) that we would soon take them on board and revel in rubbing into Chelski noses we have 2 of their "legends" in a hooped shirt

Yes to both, anyone who says different wants their head testing.

I wouldn't have any problems in principle, but I think they'll both finish their careers at chelsea. By the time they're past it there, they'll be past it for us too. I think they'll play a bit part role until they're 35

We are now a PL team, not a championship team, so you would think we would go and get younger players than slightly older Fat Frank and a drug dealers/clothes stealing son.

I know Beckham is older, but would earn the club money (in theory)

Tbf Paul I cans ee where youre coming from; but the fact Derry is 33 and still proving people wrong and has the fans full support tells us that we shouldnt always judge on a players age.

Derry does not go box to box like Chubby (I quite like him actually), chalk and cheese players but we need to be looking at younger players with a future ahead of them, not Chelsea Pensioners looking foe one last pay day.

                              True say.

I agree we should be looking for younger players and, if we were searching for who to buy, the 2 in question def wouldnt be on my personal shortlist, but simply in answer to the OP i was saying we shouldnt be turning our noses up at top qualtiy players

Just out of curiosity, within our clubs realistic budget, which CB and CM would you like to see us sign in Jan? Plus a forward as we all know we need 1!
