anyone disagree with above? will have to be derry i imagine whos rested but we need goals and we have to try and win vs teams like blackburn, we will be lucky to get anything outof following 3 and should therefore go for it

It's a good idea but Warnock don't like this does he?

I do think we need to start being flexible with the team selection and start playing two up front against the likes of Blackburn at home and then going back to one up front against Chelsea etc.

certainly need to mix it up a bit... for sure, we had a patched-up defence on sunday, but focussing on this overlooks the point that foolham beat us all over the pitch - they knew what was coming and set themselves up (depressingly well) to deal with us.

Think you are spot on, apart from I would drop faurlin, looked completely lost last few games.

I dont think its a good idea

I know we are at home but having lost 6-0 in the previous game the last thing we need to to leave the defence over exposed

What we need is for the attacking players to do their jobs and find the net, what we dont need is to concede an early goal by leaving what is bound to be a jittery defence wide open early on
its New Era number 8 i tell thee, bring on the fireworks

Worst thing to do would be to change formation, we need to stick with how we know how to play. Chelsea or Arsenal for example dont decide to play 4-4-2 just because they are at home against a bad team.

No we don't, we need to play with a striker facing the goal attacking it, not with his back to the goal holding the ball up.

There must be an echo in here, been saying this for ages.
Prem football is more compact than Championship, and when we play this 4-2-3-1 we look stretched.
IMO much better to play 4-5-1 away, and 4-4-2 at home. Away teams are often happy to sit deep and defend a point, so a lone striker becomes ineffective against this tactic. We need to have strict positional sense, a compact formation, and good fitness levels.

I think we should play exactly the same way as we did against Newc, Wolves and Villa 1st half.

forget wolves but how many saves do you remember their keepers making, were not creating enough chances and whilst i agree in theory that our system looked goood the reality is we have only scored 5 goals against what would be best described as not the best teams in prem

vs the big boys yes stick to 1 up front , but vs teams like blackburn esp way they are currently playing we got to go for it
                        i almost play 4132 system

With our 2 full backs playing in their rightful positions we have more attacking options and the overloads on them (as seen particularly Orr on Sunday) will be far less likely because of the attacking threat they pose. Blackburn will not have a midfield trio like the Fools and again that will cause less headaches. So hopefully the midfield efforts of Barton, Faurlin and Sweep will be positive and we will find ourselves with bodies in and around the box.
I don't think Warnock will change the system for this game and given Blackburn's defensive strength is height I guess JB will also be the line leader.
However, the massive difference will be the threats from wide (Young and Traore) which will allow us to play as we did against the Barcodes and Villa (as someone said above).

This is why Warnock was right to dig out Traore - his reckless tackle in enemy territory was needless and the whole dynamic of our team is blown away without him and Young at full back.

I don't blame Warnock for that one bit - and I'm sure he will address the situation in January to ensure we have decent cover for injuries and suspensions to crucial players.

But the cover does not provide the same attacking option as Traore. I agree Hill should not have gone out but honestly, if Hill had been available it would not have changed the result, the scoreline maybe but not the result as we did not pose any attacking threat from the back so the fools were able to double up and gamble on this weakness, over ran us in midfield so that Orr didn't get the cover he needed and we simply couldn't hurt them. Hilly, model pro and decent defender that he is, would not have caused Jol to re-think his atacking plans in the same way as he would have if Young and Traore had been available in their default positions
