Complete lack of width...

more than anything else, the thing that most concerns me about us is scoring goals. Days like yesterday can happen, and need to be addressed, but we really aren't penetrating at all.

The main reason, I think, is the lack of width in the team. any good defensive coach will tell his team to narrow when defending, and then spread wide to create space when attacking. we certainly don't do that.

SWP needs to be told to hug the touchline, and we need another quick player or great crosser of the other side of the park. At this level we are not good enough to pass it through central areas to score. even Arsenal struggle at times with that. We need to get wide and stretch opposition more often.

I also think it is time for Adel to be rested. Personally, I would bring in Buzsaky. I think he has more than enough skill and know-how to do well and deserves a 4-5 game run to prove himself. he is wasted. he is also by far our best dead-ball specialist, and we know he can score 10 goals a season. He also gets back and hustles opposition, despite what some may think on here.

Only when we truly start to get decent crosses in will we be able to see the strikers for what they really are - good enough or not. I still think Helguson should be given a go, and Campbell is the nearest we have to a natural goalscorer in the squad.

Anyway, I'd be interested in other peoples' thoughts on this, especially how narrow we play.

So why was every ball being played out wide right to Orr, who then sent in crosses which were either not good enough or when they were there was no one there good enough to do anything with them.

agreed, feel we need SWP to play as wide man and smith or mackie or puncheon, barton will drift in everytime he isnt a wide man, if were playing 4-5-1, why have a lone striker in bothroyd that doesnt run the channels and plays deeper than the midfield, campbell has proven at this level he will run the channels and put him self about for 90 mins every game and score goals for blackpool, bothroyd doesnt even look like hes creating chances.

what taarabt done im not condoning, but when your 3-0 down why take off your most creative player thats been probly the best of a bad bunch. he knuckled down and even battles for the team now which is what warnock asked but as soon as things go wrong hes the first player off regardless of how he is playing. hall should be drove to brentford put on there doorstep with a "we dont want you" label.

yes w e need width most definately we have the players need to fkng use them, swp and young good combo on right and traore looks good on left, some one needs to tell bothroyd to stop coming out on the wings cos we have the stupid situation where we are crossing the ball into swp, wtf!!! he needs to be in there if playing that role not on the wings
