Ok, I could understand it if Jay couldn't score in the prem due to a higher level and not getting enough chances, but he has missed every one he has had and there have been many (and a lot of those sitters).
Sorry but isnt a goalscorer supposed to score? IMO he's had his chance it's time to start with someone else. He just can't cut it.

Bothroyd should have been dropped after the Newcastle game, but no, we had to plod on with a useless 'striker' that cant 'strike', but at least people have now seen the light.

I didn't say that, just seemed that he gave us nothing at times when we definately deserved decisions.

No we got 'tonked' because we were inferior and foolem took advantage of that.

problem with Bothroyd is the same as any other 'average' striker.

His good points are when he is one on one outside the box, wins the high balls, his strength on the ball, and his hold up play, but only if he has support around him to lay off to.
His problems are inside the box. Being the lone striker the centre backs double up on him because he is on his own, usually no support for 30-40 yards, and he isn't quick or sharp enough to make the half chances count. If a nippy player like SWP got closer, or we play DJ just off him he would actually create space because the defence have more to think about.
It was exactly the same with Hulse, HH, Dave, and always will be with our formation. It will be the same if we got someone like Zamora or Berbatov in Jan too, because what we need is an Andy Johnson type.

Don't think any of us can blame the players for this one. Almost every player was out of position, SWP was everywhere but not on the wing same goes for Barton, Derry and Ali instead of keeping hold of the midfield they were swapping positions with everyone and getting in each others way and even Paddy was doing sliding tackles ffs !! I could see the frustration on Adel's face and getting really p!ssed of with the situation so we cant blame him for doing a runner at half time. As for the back 4 well...f**k me !! The coaching staff have a lot to answer for this one imo.

Bothroyd probably now needs to be left out not hit the score sheet in 8 games time for a change? as for the ref don't think he was in anyway to blame for our defeat & failings on the day! players need to take along hard look at themselves. This one hurts a lot.
