2 Smith cross where ball struck hand /arm would have been a harsh one to give against Villa but it would have evened up the SOFT one given above . Hence a penalty

3 Derry header is ONE OF THE MOST OBVIOUS PENALTIES you'll see all year .

Can't argue with any of that. Their pen was naive defending by Traore. Agbonlahor was never going to reach it anyway, but he did get a handful of his shirt and gave him the option to go down. The ref has been slated, but i actually think he did well to spot it, as harsh as it was, he is within his rights to give it.

We should've had the handball from Derry's header but not the cross, although they are often given.

No there wouldn't be ten penalties in a game ever. There might be two or three in each of the first week's games it started, and then players and managers and clubs would cop on.

I don't buy that argument. Has there been anymore rioting?

That is why the hand ball rule has to be changed, so it takes away a refs interpretation of the incident, so if the ball hits your hand or arm, its a penalty, just like it is a free kick anywhere else on the pitch.

So we can't even agree on a biased forum.

Refs have the hardest job in football.

Only because they all interrupt things in different ways, take away that option and things would be better for everyone.

So to get a penalty just aim the ball at opponents arm? That would be worse than the situation we have now.

Refs job is near impossible however the most important skill is common sense. Even if Traore had not tugged the shirt there is no way he would have got to the ball. The ball was travelling at speed and the angle was too tight. After giving the penno he should have been sent off if the letter of the law was being fully administered.

Villa had six players booked - 3 of these players were involved in crunching fouls later yet remained on the field. At least 2 Villa players should have walked.

The ref was league one standard at best.

That would make absolute carnage in the area and would never work!

We didn't get the rub of the green yesterday, on another day we would of had 2 pens, it's just the way the it is.

Also we urgently need to get used to not having decisions go our way because as the new boys in the prem we are gonna find it happening alot this year.

So if defender runs towards forward with hands above his head and the ball strikes him on the hand or arm as long as he says it was for balance and arms were there already ,no pen?

So what you are saying is a defender can close a ball down like Peter Schmeichel used to spread his body ?

                    Exactly! Ridiculous!

Why is it a free kick out side the penalty are, but not within the penalty area ?

I can see why the the first one was given and the second one wasn't given , both could have gone either way ...BUT

The Derry header was as clear a penalty as you can get and I defy anyone to convince me otherwise !!!!

If those decisions were given seperately by three other refs in three other matches on a different day, the interpretations would have been argued about by pundits but not universally condemned. There would have been some for and some against each incident.

Did you look at the clip link I put up? It clearly shows Hutton moving his arm in towards his body, not outwards which is always a given penalty
