  • Reality check.

I think it's safe to say we deserved at least a point from the Villa match, and on another day with different decisions from the ref we may well have had all 3.

I do think though it will serve us well and be a major reality check and bring everyone back down to earth. Many players didn't perform for me to their recent high standards (SWP, Faurlin, Barton, Traore, Bothroyd).

What we need to take from the game is that the prem is ruthless. We dominated the first half and the latter part of the 2nd without really creating anything clearcut, and could easilly have gone on to lose the game. You don't always get what you deserve in football, and in the prem that is for certain.

What we need to be positive about is the fact that we are dissapointed to only take a point from a side that will comfortably be mid table this season, so that is now the sort of level we are competing with, and where we should realistically hope to be at best.

All in all, we didn't play as well as we can and still got something from the game, even with a man down, plus it's another point towards safety at this stage.

We should take a lot from the first half performance, against a side that i think will finish top 8. Best side we have played so far imo. Sides like Villa are to good to be bossed for 90 mins, putting aside the referee and his poor performance, i thought we played well against a very tough and experienced prem league side, it will also calm the high expectations of some that after a away win at Wolves we were top 10 material !

Very true. Many seem to forget that were it not for Birmingham conceeding a goal with pretty much the last kick of last season, Wolves would now be a division below us....
