  • Is our set up better suited to away games?

Just thinking last 2 home games teams coming and sitting , we are defo struggling to break them down as much as a massive compliment we need to do something diff, think were better suited away , as teams have to come at us leaving us space to attack,
    What do
    You think?

Our football style seems to work on big pitches.

What can we do to change it at home?

more space we have better we look. i do feel we are away from home we will be that team that goes at the opposition but may take a tonking for it.

villa done their homework, kept swp quiet and played man for man. with bent out they played 4-5-1 yet every other game its been 4-4-2

we did look like we ran out of ideas...especially 2nd half. Tarbs was the only one that looked like unlocking the defence.

I guess it's "Welcome to the Premier League". Teams are very hard to break down when they come to soak pressure and break, which is what a lot of them do away from home and are good at it.

Fair point: at LR We always look a forward short when getting the ball in the final third, always easily mopped up or cleared by a defence set to play away at home. Same approach we played in the Championsip but now up against much beer defences. If Bothroyd was Luis Suarez it would be less of an issue.

Largely agree with this. Think our formation will work as well as any against the big teams at home but against the small and middling teams we need to go for broke a little bit more, particularly with 3 points for a win. Villa for instance offered nothing going forward first half, leaving our four defenders and two defensive midfielders to take care of one striker. We need one more player higher up the pitch, not necessarily as an out and out striker but certainly more advanced, so Bothroyd isn't isolated. Even last season when we were on such a roll a large number of our goals were long distance spectaculars (mainly from Tarbs) and we need to do a lot more work on getting regulation goals from well-placed free kicks as well as corners which we hardly ever score from.
