Kirill gets a lot of unfair criticism for simply doing his job, which is to moderate the message board according to the forum rules - which were created by MYU and Pete. He puts a lot of time and effort into running the website. Without him I very much doubt the message board would have functioned properly on transfer deadline day, when we had an awful lot of traffic on here. He seems to have become a scapegoat - and often it isn't even him that has made the 'unpopular' decision. It's really quite irritating to read.

The announcement posted earlier by one of my colleagues is actually very reasonable, if you take the time to read it carefully. When Pete and MYU started the message board, they wanted to create a 'family-friendly' atmosphere on the message board. This is what they wanted. Whether us moderators agree or disagree with this policy, we are required to abide by it when making decisions. This is what my colleague's statement is trying to explain. If you don't like this policy - then ask Pete and MYU to change it - don't have a go at the moderators.

On a separate note - for some time in this country there has indeed been a culture of 'political correctness'. Those who have raised concerns about levels of immigration, for instance, have been vilified as 'racist'. That, in my opinion, is totally wrong. There is nothing 'evil' about raising concerns about the number of people coming into this country.

However, what users like 'Stan Bowles' have posted on this forum is very different. It's not simply 'un-PC' - it's racism. He says 'he lives in the real world' - I'm really not sure that he does given his use of 1930s ethnic slurs. I actually find it rather worrying that so many people have leapt to this man's defence. Shocking.

I am appalled, but sadly not surprised that there are calls for racism to be allowed, and women to be banned.
