I have to admit, I've never really been a fan of SWP. When he has been bought on for England in the past I've actually been quite annoyed as I didn't think he was good enough. I did think he was a good signing for us however, though I wondered if that was being over-hyped.

He always struck me as an all pace, no skill, kind of head down, kick the ball past the opponent and basically rely on out-sprinting him footballer.

Maybe that's still valid in terms of the very highest level of the game (maybe), but I have to say two things have really started to make me rethink.

    1. The performances so far for QPR. Ok - only 2 games - need a lot more to prove consistency, but I'm certainly delighted at what I've seen so far.

..however, the real thought provoker is:

    2. Since he's moved to QPR, it's become very evident (mostly via Twitter) that he was really loved by the Man City fans. I see nothing but good comments and well wishes, and a few people proclaiming QPR are now their 2nd team as SWP is there.

Now, it's not as if they don't know what quality is at the moment is it !! So it makes me think, that if City fans are that fond of him, he's likely a lot better than I ever realised.

No doubt another top Warnock signing

    Fair play mate.

What you've described above is Gareth Ainsworth, although he was never that quick tbh.

SWP in my eyes has the lot. He is lightning quick, a fantastic runner with the ball, skillfull so can easilly beat his man and unlike too many wide players, he can actually pick out a final ball or score goals with a great shot with either foot. Add to that the fact he has such a low centre of gravity, he evades easilly. That covers his attacking side, but he also works his socks off defensively when required..... great player and a fantastic signing for us, and the one of all the rumours i really hoped would come off as we lacked pace badly.

There was a tribute vid link on here that was on the Man City website and it makes you realise, for those that doubted, just how Fu$%ing good he is.....

I can't wait for him to be match fit. The game against Newcastle was his first for a year and he was brilliant 0 imagine what we get when he's got 5 or 6 in a row under his belt

Players like SWP, Barton, Ferdinand weren't wanted by their clubs, so they have plenty to prove, but one thing that I thought about was how many of our recent signing are Londoners. SWP, Bothroyd, DJ, Ferdinand for a start. Then players from the home counties, Young and Puncheon. Bit of a homecoming I think.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.
