Beckford can definitely play the lone striker role - quick, mobile, good in the air and can hold the ball up.

I can see us being right up there next season with this team/squad!!

At the risk of being called a Beckford stalker by a couple of members (you know who you are) I couldn't agree more.All this faffing around with foreign imports and the likes of Adebola and Folan (26 in 174 games - 1 every 6.6 games) Beckford added to the squad we have is definitely the answer.Invest £2m to make the £60m that promotion would bring.

the point is this season is make or break for the owners i feel.

another season like last and many fans will give up

can we put all our hopes in a player that has never played in the championship before. let alone pay £2 million for him

beckford may well go on to do well in the championship. but can we take that gamble

Be interested in a poll on here asking how many think we will spend the kind of money needed to bring Beckford in. Wd love him to sign but if the board wouldn't put out for Cox, can't see them paying more for Beckford - sadly.

i'm not comparing them as players

what i am saying is when eastwood was at southend people were raving about him. the top teams in this division were looking at him. supporters thought he was the best thing since sliced bread.

however he never made the step up. so it just goes to show that league one is absolutly nothing like the championship. how will beckford fare against a better class of defender. just because he scored goals in league one it does not mean he will score them in the championship

we can not put all our hopes in a player who has never played in this league before. if our current strikers were better it would be different. there would be less pressure on him.
