On the grand scheme of things, 2 sets of fans having a tear up isnt the most serious of crimes and affects you or i in no way whatsoever. Let them crack on if they wanna have a fight.

This was in a pub with kids in it. Other people who were in no way involved. The pub itself is a business,, that would have to deal with the clean-up, insurance claims and so on (I don't know how much damage was done tbf, but you get my point). Any of these idiots ended up in hospital would need treating by people like Cait (and would be done regardless of why they were there).

This never happens in isolation, it always impacts, and always negatively.

No, it's not worse than murder or rape or whatever, but that shouldn't excuse it happening.

Lets hope those quick enough to say they would grass on these individuals would also be the first to discourage them from taking part in such activities.

Yes, because trying to reason with a brain-dead cretin with a plank of wood, will end in shaken hands and a lifelong friendship?

I'd love to know why someone goes out of their way, in the course of supporting a football team, to have a fist fight (or worse) with another adult.

I don't believe I could dissuade them, but I'm honestly mystified as to why someone would do this.

Brain dead cretin bit harsh, alcohol fuelled violence seeker would be a better discription.

Football violence has gone on for years and you could also apply the same logic to boxing, MMA, why do they feel the need to go into the ring. The answer is simple, because they enjoy it.

You never know do you, until you try, and if you got through to just one of them surely you would view that as a success and maybe that lifelong friendship would start from there.

Supressed confused sexuality, annoyance at their boring lives and their disassociation with people and society, not understanding certain things in life bring greater pleasure than hate and violence against fellow man. Appeals to tribal instincs. You could argue it is almost feral nature in some men. It's an attack on authority from some people. There will always be violence though. Shame it has to be associated with a sport. Why not just do it like the slavs do. Meet in a big field and have it out. No weapons. In a field. Like the old medieval days. Whilst the rest of us get on with bettering the world and having actual fun. (inb4 liberal sandal wearing homo).

Because it is a SPORT. Involving skill and strategy and fitness and finesse. Not who can smash a chair into the back of someones head the fastest. Sport is fun. Bunch of children and fat balding sweaty sad depressed men homoerotically rubbing each other furiously in the street is not a sport. Yet. Maybe in greece.

Indeed, if thats what they want let them do, afterwards they shake hands and go their own way.

Don't let this thread die. It's the only thing keeping me awake right now along with Radio 1.

My point was, they obviously enjoy it, but its still inflicting pain on another human being is it not?
