To write him off before he's even kicked a ball at this level is sheer folly.

Mackies touch won't be any worse than SWP's so no need to worry.

don't you just love the "i know what i am talking about" fans, the ones who think they know more than NW, specially when they say they have played at certain levels, cracks me right up.

Whether people are ability gifted or work horse gifted if they pull on the hoops then get behind them, specially seeing how he hasn't licked a ball in the prem yet.

But only my opinion which probably sucks as i only had a trial with grays athletic

Jamie has bags of ability. It is simply wrong to claim that a player who has achieved what he has in a short space of time has no ability.
Working hard without the ball takes ability as well as fitness
Scoring goals at any level on a regular basis takes ability
Most players with a Championship winners medal takes ability
Winning full international caps takes ability (dodgy one that I give you where jocks concerned!)
Scoring that goal at Derby away took ability
Being able to play right back, midfield, striker or in the hole needs you to have ability

Okay, he's not the best Prem player you'll find but I'd take him over most players at our comparable clubs such as Swans, Narich, Blackburn, Bolton, Everton, Wigan etc

Whether you've played at a decent level or not I will take Neil Warnocks opinion over anyone's.

            There's only one Jamie Mackie
            Absolutely spot on mate

Opinions are all well and good and I'm not saying you're not entitled to one H - but on this point, your expectations will not be met = wrong.

He is not fit and won't be for a little while yet - if Warnock didn't want him and thought he should go out on loan, he wouldn't have named him in the 25 man squad and would have used that spot for a player who was fit and ready to play when the squad was named.

Once fit, he will be in Warnock's plans, not sent out on loan as one for the shop window or anything else.

The problem is we have a much better squad now.

He is nowhere near 1st team on ability and I even put smith and Buzsaky ahead of him, so has no chance of getting these 10 starts unless the team is crippled with injury's. Always will be a fans favourite but for me I am talking pure ability for doing a job and had a cracking start but I like to look at the bigger picture but I respect all your opinions.

You can have a team full of technical players, but if you haven't got people who will give 110% every match and have the determination and heart to come back from a goal behind then you wont win anything. Should be given a chance in the squad and I think he'll definitley give the likes of Smith and Puncheon something to think about.

Personally, I dont totally agree with W12 on this but I respect what he has to say and i can defiantly see where he is coming from. Mackie isnt THE most technically gifted player and his main attribute is his desire and work rate, which is briliant and we need people like that (hense why I dont agree and I belive he should be involved) but what W12 says about having a better squad now and havein Smith & Buzz ahead of him cant really be argued against too much? As highlighted above though, he could give them competition without doubt and competition is great for a squad, all fighting for a place means better performances.

I think Mackie is a superb player to have as a squad member, he more than has earnt his crack at the PL, but can anybody honestly say they would put him in their starting 11? Or even have him ahead of the previously mentioned Buzz or Smith in the pecking order? Also, opinions/reservations on him aside, we have to remember Puncheon is also in the frame now and Neil wouldnt have spent so much time trying to get him on board if he wasnt planning on using him? With SWP in the side aswell now I really think it will be hard for Mackie to get a game this year.

I would have him around though, on the bench and ready to bring on as he has the legs and work rate to cause problems against tired legs, but at this level of football, work rate and desire isnt always quite enough to cut the mustard. As with all players though, especially 1s that have contribted hugely to us getting here, I wont make any judgements until Ive seen enough game time of them in the PL, he could prove us wrong/right (depending on your views) and have a cracking season for us and chin in with a few goals, who knows eh! All i know is he deserve to be involved and not written off just yet, even if he has to be patient to get a chance.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
