  • QPR set for Mackie Boost....

Jamie Mackie is likely to be told by a specialist next week that he can take part in full training and play in reserve games.

Seems like ages ago up at Ewood Park, fair play to Jamie for keeping himself in shape and being fit enough to go straight into the ressies.

Really hope he bounces back strongly. If he can also step up as Derry has done then we will really have got a great asset.

Fair play to him. Good his fitness is good, but still take a good while to get match fit..... Who would you drop from the match squad to accommodate him.... only like for like i see would be Punchean..... that said, i'm sure people will chop and change with suspensions hitting etc.

Great news so long as he doesn't come back too soon. That's the beauty of the squad we now have - 3 weeks ago we would have needed him to rush back, now he can take it nice and slow.

would be great to see him back and firing on all cylinders again...please no "vine" situation, be terrible to lose 2 players of good quality to 'orrible breaks.
fingers crossed mackie returns to the full team soon.

Great bloke with a superb attitude but personally I think he is miles away from the 1st team, and that includes getting on the bench. Good worker but for me it's an insult to use his name in the same sentence as shaun Derry. I wasn't going to return to this board but it's posts like these that really do make my blood boil. I am talking purely ability and not work rate as you can't knock him. I wish him all the best with his return to injury but even if he did get back to his best it wouldn't be good enough. Played football at a high level to realise what he offers and for me Jamie Mackie is a decent championship player. Doesn't have nowhere near the attributes of Shaun Derry.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Mackie deserves a chance before he gets tarred with the decent championship player brush like like Derry was as well. You can't be sure he won't be good in the premiership until he has played at least 10 games

Spot on. He has the work rate and determination to do well in this league. Will be an asset when we play teams like Arsenal because we'll need someone who will chase every single pass for 90 minutes, and Mackie is the only one who would do that.

Again great work ethic which has never been questioned.

The problem is we have a much better squad now.

He is nowhere near 1st team on ability and I even put smith and Buzsaky ahead of him, so has no chance of getting these 10 starts unless the team is crippled with injury's. Always will be a fans favourite but for me I am talking pure ability for doing a job and had a cracking start but I like to look at the bigger picture but I respect all your opinions.

Football isn't about pure ability though. You can have a team full of technical players, but if you haven't got people who will give 110% every match and have the determination and heart to come back from a goal behind then you wont win anything. Should be given a chance in the squad and I think he'll definitley give the likes of Smith and Puncheon something to think about.

I can appreciate where your coming from Del but I have played plenty of football at ryman level. They are obsessed with work rate, commitment to be 1st to the ball and give 110% but for me thats not everything. It gets you by but you need more than that in the premier league. That's why I really think Adel will be a success. I know you are talking about mixing work rate with quality and to an extent that is very important but to win games at this level you have to be ruthless and have that match winning ability. For me Jamie Mackie doesn't offer that and I think with players like SWP's and adel, mackie would look out of place in that line up. Smith is a much more intelligent player to mackie and Buzz has attributes that will suit the premier league. On report I said we would clear out 11 players from our 25 man squad in the next 2 transfer windows and mackie was unfortunately on my list.

                            Turn it in

Jamie has bags of ability. It is simply wrong to claim that a player who has achieved what he has in a short space of time has no ability.
Working hard without the ball takes ability as well as fitness
Scoring goals at any level on a regular basis takes ability
Most players with a Championship winners medal takes ability
Winning full international caps takes ability (dodgy one that I give you where jocks concerned!)
Scoring that goal at Derby away took ability
Being able to play right back, midfield, striker or in the hole needs you to have ability

Okay, he's not the best Prem player you'll find but I'd take him over most players at our comparable clubs such as Swans, Narich, Blackburn, Bolton, Everton, Wigan etc

Whether you've played at a decent level or not I will take Neil Warnocks opinion over anyone's.

                            There's only one Jamie Mackie
I need some time in the sunshine, I gotta slow it right down.

I agree with weare...jamie gives 110% every game and I love him to bit's but I don't think that will be enough to get in this team, I would expect him to be loaned out once fit
