125 Years?

I was under the impression that St Jude's merged with Christchurch Rangers in 1882 forming QPR which would make us 129 years in the business of being the dogs b0ll0x? Whats with the 125 years?

Think the merger happened in 1885, making this the 126th year. Yep, I don't get it either

Ok Ive done some research basically St Jude's Institute and Christchurch Rangers formed in 1882 but amalgamated in 1886.

I think we should go off the 1882 date as thats the one thats always featured on our badges

Jim Gregory made a big thing about 1882 prior to our cup final with Spurs in 1982. He had a new badge made marking the Wembley appearance and our 'centinary' . The club sold shed loads of shirts etc off the back of it, but later it came to light that 1886 was in fact the correct year! Good old Jim!

Nah Im having 1882 then we are the 3rd oldest club in London after Fulham & Leyton Orient if we go 1886 it means the special needs lot in Bermondsey are older than us!

Given the fuss made about our centenary in 1982 we should stick to that date. I thought we were stretching things a bit by using '82 - surely we were nothing much to crow about until well into the 1900s? But, that aside, we should stick to what we did in '82... anything else just looks like rampant marketing and devalues our history.
