  • Back a while, my thoughts

Kenny - fairly quiet night, bar 1 good 1st half save.
Young - good debut, but I felt his passi g let him down on occasion.
Traore - very good, fingers crossed its cramp not hamstring
    Ferdinand - again, very good
Gabbidon - did well, but a couple of mistakes 1st half, might have cost us another day.
Derry - brilliant, proved hes not too old for this level
Faurlin - his best game for us IMO, again, proving he can cut it in the Prem
Barton - good 1st half, very good 2nd half. I wonder he he was being deliberately low key or disciplined at the start.
Taarabt - very good 1st half, good 2nd half, faded a little, still our best player, when he wants to be, and I think he'll want to be more now he has more quality around him. Loss of Capt armband didn't seem to affect him. Linked very well with SWP. Speaking of which -
Wright-Phillips - great debut, derserved MotM, just. Unlucky not to score.
Bothroyd - did well, held the line brilliantly, won headers and made good runs. But should have scored.
Connolly - struggled a little but did ok. Natural sub due to versatility, can play in 5 positions but CH is preferable for me.
Campbell - did ok, good runs, looked a threat
Puncheon - harsh to comment on the 5 mins he played.

Funny how we see it different.
Pardew will be happy with a point, we should have had 3, it could have been sewn up by HT
I felt we tired after 75 and we seemed to lose a little shape when DJ came on for Jay.
Overall, a very pleasing and optimistic display which bodes well, but we need to start taking chances/scoring. 1 in 4 isnt going to survive.

So much for a sellout, 16k ? Loads empty in lower loft and who said Geordies had sold all theirs ? And wheres my rebate ?

Liked the SWP song, did we dream that up or was it Man City ?

i actually agree with all of that. saw the game just as i did.

Very good summary and I agree with all of it really. I didn't think we tired so much rather than they changed their formation which cancelled out our midfield and thus stopped our supply line.

Front of lower loft werent for sale i dont think due to the issue of things being thrown/poured down on them from above (as i experienced in Leeds game last year!)

I couldnt see all areas of Georgie section due to being situated in X block, but from what I could see they did basically sell out didnt they?

Matty, Your referring to School End with front rows covered, not Lower Loft !
There were lots of empty seats in LL, probably the least likely to sell out now due to some silly policy about not being able to buy a single ticket in there. Can only buy if with an under 16. Hopefully, TL & AB will look at that.

Newcastle mostly sold out but there was 2 big areas of about 100 seats empty, the sort of gap that makes you fear for a coach load having trouble on route.
Someone wrote on 1299 / 1900, but I'd guess thats a little low.
From Upper Loft, I'd suggest 1600/1700.

Just seen 1279 Geordies on Offish.
I still think thats low, but if true a really poor turn out by them.
Admittedly on TV on Monday night BUT 'the best away support in the land' normally fill our 3k end no matter when, or what league.

TBF mate, if a normal time i'm sure they'd have filled their allocation, but for many getting home at 3am or whatever it might be, is not going to be viable with work in the morning.

Football is too expensive for a lot of people these days. I know loads who won't be going to Fulham, including myself.

Del, theres enough Geordies in London and surrounding areas to avoid a 3am journey and would fill our ground entirely.
W4 R, fair point and I suspect very valid in this case.

Would be very surprised, but regardless, if they live in these areas are not likely to be season ticket holders, of which they have thousands who i expect between them mop up most away ground allocations. Maybe some who are local didn't bother checking availability as they expected there to be none for general sale because they'd easilly sell out our small allocation... who knows.

I generally agree - though I think Kenny was excellent. Although they didn't make many chances there were a lot of balls in the box and he commanded it brilliantly. There can't be many more solid keepers in the prem.

Also the 1st half save was as excellent.

I also think that Bothroyd really needs to do better. Winning headers doesn't win games in the Premier League - taking your chances does. In some games we will get 1 or 2 decent chances in 90 minutes, so we have to be clinical.

Also have to say that Adel and SWP were both brilliant and will be a delight to watch. It really pleases me because I have defended Adel for months while loads of people on here only want to #### him off - even when he was MOTM in many many games last season. Where are all the "he won't be able to play in the Premier League" brigade today?

Rockandroll has them tied up in a garage somewhere inflicting serious pain on them for daring to speak out against his beloved Adel

Only thing I really disagree with is the Luke Young bit. Though he had a great game. I've said all along we needed a left back and right back and was so happy with those two out there last night. Only real worry is what happens if we lose either him or Traore.

Faurlin wasn't great in the first half but his second half performance was man of the match material if produced over 90 mins.

Derry was exceptional. Doubt he had that many chances all of last season to score as he did last night and probably should of done better.

Loved Barton and SWP constantly swapping wings. Barton gave the ball away a fair bit but his engine was crazy, he just never stopped. SWP will be an immense signing. That on his first start in over a year, I had to pinch myself as he is only going to get better and better!

Kept saying to my cousin all night, I cannot believe who we have playing in a hooped shirt! Great night just a shame we couldn't put the ball in the net. Can't wait for Wolves this weekend now and not had this buzz from QPR since Sheffield Wednesday, before that is was possibly 10 years ago!

OOOPPSSS I missed Adel. Really raised his game last night and showed he can cut it in this division. Just needs to be consistent now. There will be a bad game here and there but now we have others who can produce it will take the pressure off him.

Only disappointing thing last night was Gabbidon. I think Hall will be very good alongside Anton who also had a very commanding game last night. Nothing fancy just a solid defender who went through the motions.
