  • Faurlin and Derry

Glad Warnock kept this partnership together. Looked absolute class together tonight and looked as if they played prem league football for years both were key and are great assets. Also big credit to Tarbs tonight gave a lot more passes than usual and was great to see him do more simple things when he normally wouldn't. All the team deserve credit though and how the f did we not win ffs!

Faurlin in particular for me was outstanding! MOTM by a country mile, even over SWP who had a very good debut.

Faurlin was by far the best player on the pitch tonight. Great job Ali!
      Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
      And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

Can't see how Faurlin was MOTM over Wright-Phillips and Taarabt. His best tackle was on Taarabt as he was about to shoot.

I thought the defence were superb, particularly Young and Traore.

Totally agree. I thought Faurlin was the man of the match. He was absolutely class pulling the strings in the midfield. Im well happy with the performance, its just a shame we couldn't find the back of the net

They both played really well today, and for me Faurlin came out of his shell a bit because he's not been great in the prem before tonight.

For me though SWP all day for MOM, Taraabt also played great with some amazing play and cutting passes. The defence was very solid and all played well. Shame Traore got injured as he looks a real threat going forwatrd with real quality.

Overall very, very promising start.... we got a point and deserved more, but with those players, there will be off days when we are collectively bad, but will nick results on the counter.

IMO the whole side deserves credit, all superb (even Conners when he came on- 1 stray pass aside!).
Whole defence were brilliant, I had so much more confidence in us when defending. Keeper? Need say nothing, Paddy as reliable as ever and what a save in the 1st half! From where i was sitting (X block!) it was hard to see but looking at it again on TV when I got home, abso brilliant save!
Midfield, solid. Barton seemed nervey 1st half but came into it alot more 2nd half, defiantley a top top player. The old guard (Adel Derry n Ali) all brilliant tonight, the Derry n Ali partnership looked as though theyd played PL footballer together for years! SWP was awesome, such an exciting player who threatened whenever he had the ball, loved the link up play between him and Adel.
Up top Bothroyd, IMO, played really well. Finishing wise he should have had a couple but his link up play was top notch. The amount of times he brought the ball down on his chest and laid it off, so valuable and the sort of thing some fans miss when moaning about his finishing. DJ gives us a great option to bring on but, with the system we play, I dont think he could play the role striker as he isnt the sort of player to be holding a ball up and laying it off.
How refreshing was it to see players on the bench (Buzz Puncheon and DJ) that could potentially change a game if brought on! Unlike the usual options of Dave and Hogan!!

All in, brilliant. Very very pelased with the performance, would probably have taken a draw before the game so not too down heartened with result although we certainly deserved the win. Very optimistic after the performance and I dont think Id be exagaerating if i said that if we could perform like that on a regular basis we wuold be pushing for a top half finish?

Bring on Saturday when I dont think 3 points is too unrealistic!

You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Ali Faurlin & Derry were fantastic. Went POTY do, sat and spoke to Derry,Smith,Connolly they said he was an immence talent and we should see the best of him this season, also would cut it in the prem easily and as fans we propably didn't realise how good a player he was.
