Tevez's agent was sat in W12, few fans asked about a potential loan, lol he didn't look impressed.

January's probably the time to be innovative - not much value in the domestic market - short term loan deals, looking abroad.

Birmingham, West Ham and Bolton used this market to great effect in seasons past to stay up

Agree. The problem we might have this season is the ACN meaning that a player who initially might have been available isn't because they are needed by their club. I'm not saying we'd get either Sturridge or Anelka as both played at the weekend but with Drogba and Kalou on international duty we have no chance signing either Anelka or Sturridge in January.

Got a feeling Ivory Coast didn't qualify.

Might be Cameroon - hang on let me check...

SWP and Traore needed to kickstart their careers so had to leave to get first team football, Sunderland had just signed O'Shea and Brown and already had Turner and Bramble so Ferdinand wasn't guaranteed first team football, Young is of an age where signing a three year deal is better than carrying on with a one or two year deal with Villa plus a return to London and Barton wanted out at Newcastle (or at least wanted Ashley out). If we try and sign a player who is in form and banging the goals in for their existing club they'll either cost a lot of money or be at a club which might have a better chance of Premiership survival.

There aren't many who aren't getting a look in for their clubs (other than Crouch and Bellamy they are no longer possible) who could do a job and not break the bank. The likes of Anelka, Berbatov and Defoe are all unlikely even though none of them are guaranteed first team football. So then we are looking at players like Doyle, Saha, Jones, even some like Gabby A (not going to attempt the spelling) but that's only if they aren't playing regularly or are playing for a club who is doing worse than we are.
of course your'e right about the dogs nuts strikers but our imediate aim is is to fiinish above 4th bottom and our short term aim is to finnish mid table ,we couldn't be thinking of the dogs nuts to take us to top 4 for at least 6=10 years if ever

It depends on what (or who) you mean by the "dogs nuts"? I don't think we will sign a top top striker for many a year but if we're looking to follow Stoke's model (not saying we are but they are a good club to emulate) then they've gone from Championship side to attracting good players like Jones and Crouch in three seasons. No reason that can't be us and no reason to why we don't continue to strengthen if given the opportunity. No harm in ever improving on what we already have.
