because, IMO, he was bl00dy strong yesterday and defiantly doesnt need to "Muscle up" lol

Cheers for response tho pal, civilised convo, unlike some posters who react as though youve just insult their mother and cal you every name under the sun!
When I say muscle up I meant when the defender has the ball or maybe I should have said be more nasty and a touch more selfish

Of course we would welcome a good striker. Bothroyd still has a lot to prove. He is a good addition to the squad but we have been linked to better and nearly got Bellamy.

So why would we not want another striker if we can clearly justify the spend. If we couldn't we would not have been in for Crouch (though not sure what we would have paid for him) and Bellamy.

The fact is that if we continue to play like that we will be more attractive to better players, so January could be good for us.

If we had a strike force as good as our midfiled we would worry every defence in the league.

Imo Bothroyd would be as good as we could get if He could just ad a touch of Rob stiener or Paul Furlong to His game when he has't got the ball ,Incenzo is spot on though we need more fire power in January

          Who though?

There are very few people who I can actually see making a real difference for QPR who are a possibility. What we need is a proven goal scorer at this level which is why Bellamy and Crouch would have been fantastic signings but there aren't many around. Would Stoke sell Kenwyne Jones, would Louis Saha stay fit for long enough? Would Kevin Doyle leave Wolves for us? Each of them have scored goals in the Premiership (not prolifically) but they are all first team players and so it's harder to convince them to come to us.

I'm struggling to find a player who is a) proven and b) would leave his current club for us.

Or c) who we need. I mean c'mon, weve played 1 game with our new squad assembled and weplayed blooming well! There will be games where the ball just wont go in the net, but with players like Bothroyd, Campbell, SWP an Adel, we will get goals. We threatened enough, on another day 3 would have gone in by half time.

Fair enough if in a few games time were still struggling, but at the moment I think we are jumping to conclusions abit.

Totally agree but it's an area we are short in especially if we have injuries. With the likes of Smith, Buzsaky, Dyer and Mackie (when they return) we have strength in midfield, with Hall, Connolly, Hill and Orr we have depth at the back but upfront we have very little depth. Long term it's an area that needs to strengthen to be competitive.

We have cover for SWP and Tarahbt but no real cover for DJ or Bothroyd our 2 cetral strikers so yes we need more out and out strikers but not necessary replacements for the front 2

Bit unfair. If we play a lone striker, goals have to come from midfield as much as the front man.

NW knows this, that is why he tried to sign Bellamy, but what we have should be enough for survival, another good striker in January and we should be able to look a bit higher

Problem with saying we need a striker is who? If you play with only one up front it needs to be a fairly bulky centre forward type and very few of those are prolific - every club would like a 27-year-old Drogba who is both a target and very clinical but how many of them are there? Defoe is in many ways a brilliant striker and needs a new club but he would no more fit into our team than DJ seems to. Particulary, as Sir Pie says, who would be willing to come to a club like ours?

You mean an ambitious, spending, on the up side based in London with a brilliant man-manager?

Fernando Torres will be out of chelsea soon enough, especially after calling them all slow lol. Pick up in January maybe 5mill or so.

I am taking the ****, but I think he'd be good enough.

The difference between those players and a proven goal scorer is not just money - strikers always cost more - but also getting one to leave their existing club. SWP and Traore needed to kickstart their careers so had to leave to get first team football, Sunderland had just signed O'Shea and Brown and already had Turner and Bramble so Ferdinand wasn't guaranteed first team football, Young is of an age where signing a three year deal is better than carrying on with a one or two year deal with Villa plus a return to London and Barton wanted out at Newcastle (or at least wanted Ashley out). If we try and sign a player who is in form and banging the goals in for their existing club they'll either cost a lot of money or be at a club which might have a better chance of Premiership survival.

There aren't many who aren't getting a look in for their clubs (other than Crouch and Bellamy they are no longer possible) who could do a job and not break the bank. The likes of Anelka, Berbatov and Defoe are all unlikely even though none of them are guaranteed first team football. So then we are looking at players like Doyle, Saha, Jones, even some like Gabby A (not going to attempt the spelling) but that's only if they aren't playing regularly or are playing for a club who is doing worse than we are.
