Have to agree, would be very uncomfortable with any ideas of relocating a school like that.

I would imagine that SA RD or the Loft are the most viable options. Wolves have redeveloped their ground and increased its capacity without making it significantly bigger in recent years.

Would hate to move anywhere else and dread us ever having a lifeless plastic shell of a stadium like Coventry, Hull, Middlesbrough etc etc etc

You only need to worry about an ancient burial site etc. if you want to put something underground like a car park.

its more a cultural thing than asthetic..it was awarded the status due to its cultural importance...plus...its not that likely that it will cease to operate as a TV facility, all the asbestos has been removed and all the studios

The whole building is listed giving a measure of protection but only the central ring and TC1 - i.e. not the other studios - are described as being of SPECIAL interest. The BBC is hoping that the listing may help to reduce the rates bill and give time for investors to return. Excluding parts of the building from 'special' status removes uncertainty for incomers and makes conversion/partial redevelopment easier to apply for. Interestingly, the BBC will now remain in the Centre until 2015, so the leaving date has been postponed yet again. In stating that they will be leaving in that year, the BBC are only referring to people who work directly for 'The BBC.' In fact, the studios are run by a separate company called 'BBC Studios and Post Production (S&PP).' That business is wholly owned by the BBC but is not part of them. Confused? You're not the only one. In fact, when they say that they are leaving in 2015, the BBC don't seem to be including S&PP. Part of their press statement makes this clear. It states that the Studios and Post Production business (S&PP) will remain in operation after 2015 - 'either remaining on site or in a new location.' S&PP are reported to have already begun looking for an alternative site in case this is necessary. It all hinges (as it always has) on who buys the Centre. It will either be sold outright to a purchaser with their own development plans or to a company who will work in partnership with the BBC to enable the studios (or at least some of them) to continue in operation. The BBC would also like to see a 'visitor destination' on the site (A 'Dr Who Experience' perhaps?) and they reportedly see the benefit in creating a hub for creative businesses.
Its not just BBC programmes that are made there, for example,Harry Hills TV Burp is filmed at TVC

Thankfully for our financially challenged nation, complete lack of footballing ability isn't listed as a disability

What about these sites that are being discussed as part of HS2 and crossrail? Given the fuss over the Olympic stadium, why not consider building our new stadium next to the new train station?

If staying at LR then I believe that the ER stand holds the solution. the pitch of that stand is much steeper than the pitch of the lower Loft, if it were rebuilt with a similarly shallower pitch this could allow for a second tier without compromising much the height of the stand if this is the issue with the houses behind it. Also, I think that the club could apply to see whether South AFrica Road, behind that stand could become a single lane road, with traffic lights, which would not harm traffic flow as it is quite a lightly used road in any case but would allow an additional 20 foot of expansion which again with the right pitch on the stands could allow a much greater capacity. Finally, both the front of the Loft and the SE is now much further back from the pitch from what they used to be, so again, looking at the lower tiers of these stands, additional rows could be fitted. This might all be a load of rubbish though as I am no architect!

Not a bad attempt, your thinking along the right line IMO though I doubt SAR could ever become a single lane
