  • man united profits amazing (Qpr related)

Over 300m revenue increase of 45m

115m gbp - pre tax operating profit! Huge turn around from previous year!

First club in global history to exceed 100m on commercial sales!

Tony and Amit will be looking into this, will be interesting to know how much commercial revenue was based in Asia,

I would imagine they are looking to break even after 5 years!

nodge what are your thoughts on this mate?

Honestly think we will soon have a large (albeit nowhere near Utd's scale) commercial value in South East Asia. Tony and his cronies will no doubt be looking to take full advantage of this and I am sure theyre already making plans to take the hooped brand over to Indonesia and Malaysia !
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

I agree, I think we will become a very run club with a global brand, I don't think we can anywhere near break even for 5 years as a new stadium is going to happen! Depends what support from the community we get!

Sorry guys - you cannot even start to compare us to Utd.

There are a few clubs that have global appeal:

ManU, Liverpool, Barca and Real are the main ones (don't anyone Celtic me off).

That has taken decades. Chelsea and others have tapped into the Asian and US markets - Chelsea have done very well in the States and I saw a load of their shirts when I went to NY. But it hasn't turned them into Utd in terms of revenue. They are still way off.

Why do you think people will flock to QPR just because we have Asian owners? It may make a bit of difference, but not a lot. Bear in mind that most people in China do not own a TV. Football is smaller than wrestling there. Some countries its big, but in places like Thailand 90% of merchandise is fake, so revenue does not match sales.

International fans like "Big Clubs", that win tons of championshsips and Champions Leagues and have massive stadiums. They are not interested in anything else.

It takes a long time to build relations and support in asia. The likes of liverpool and man u have been going over there on pre-season tours for years and years.

I may be cynical but the signing of Park Ji Sung might have had more than just footballing ability in the decision also.

I have worked as a sports journalist in Ghana and Nigeria and it is no surprise that Arsenal are the biggest club over there due to the amount of African players they have always had. Chelsea are second with Essien, Drogba and Mikel big heroes.

Until we buy 2-3 asian/african superstar players or win something we will go unnoticed outside of England for quite a while longer. They may be a tgop 2 team now in England but most fans in Asia/Africa wont know a lot about Man City.

none of you seem to be taking the Financial (un) Fair Play Rules into acount.

They will make the Top Clubs with enormo-stadiums even more elite. No one will be able to break into their grip then which means clubs like QPR can have all the money they want - they won't win a Champions League, so we are less likely to become a global brand in Asia.

QPR a global brand - you nearly made me fall off my chair.
